I'm not sure what you can do, as I'm not familiar with their care, I do know starfish are a lot harder to keep than people think, it's why I don't have one in my current tank yet
you mean the open brain welso? Right on the sandbed is fine for them, low flow. As long as they are all the same i don't see why they couldn't be kept next to each other, but i haven't tried it before.
Just ghost feeding the tank is enough, maybe a cube of mysis or something once a week. or a small portion each day. If you have live rock in there as well, the cycle shouldn't take long at all.
I use Kalk but through a doser as i like to keep dosing steady, i use that to give a boost to ph and supplement it with calk and alk on separate dosers to maintain. Automating two part could be fairly cheap for you with a jebao doser, or two brs dosers and two timers.
it will fluctuate as your evap rate does, so it won't be as consistent as some would like, depends on what your keeping. Also, 1ml over the course of a few days? if so water changes i would think would be enough for you.
The size tank and the free fish that comes with the tank, even 6g is a bit small for a clown, but might be ok with no other fish, but a 30g tank with a free blue tang is just wrong.
Or do what i do, whatever you want to buy for the tank, save up double what it costs, then order it. When it comes in and she starts giving you a look, hand her over the extra cash even to what you just spent and watch how fast she doesn't care about what you just bought.
Nice little write up you have there, this isn't the HD version is it? They have some power to them, i would have went with them on my tank if it wasn't for the price point and my budget, but very nice light.
At the top level you would be fine, if it's sps dominant though usually you have some near the bottom as well, at least i do, and hydra 52's would probably be needed in that case.
I've never had any issues taking them out and cutting them up without gloves, i believe it comes from a mucus they excrete or something they have running through them that causes the toxins to deter predators. The only way i am aware would be contact with an open wound or putting a finger in...
Are you going mostly lps or sps? if sps i would go with two hydra 52's instead. my tank has the same 4 foot length but its a 135, if i went led i'd go with 4 hydra 52 hd's to get the spread my t5's are currently giving me.
I thought about fans, especially since this is my first summer after switching from led to t5's and during a warm day, the tank went up to 81, but after reading online that some people let it travel up to 82 and higher, i figured i'll just let it go and see how everything responds. So far no ill...
