I was just there. Picked up 10 blue hermits ($8), 10 snails for $10 and a fire shrimp for $20. His pricing is great and he spent a good 20 minutes just talking to me. Really nice guy.
My QT tank is empty. The thought was that I would use my water change to seed the tank with good water and maybe a piece of rock or two. Then add the fish to QT them and move on.
I actually let it run for about 10 minutes, drained it, another 20 minutes drained and now it seems fine. Interesting but it seems to be running fine now.
Nothing new, I usually do ReefA/B about once a week and the AquaVitro IONS (Magnesium) about once a week. Otherwise I use the Red Sea Coral Salt Pro, which I have since the beginning. Very annoying and can't figure out if its a thing that will stop after 30 minutes or so. I don't want to pull...
I have a weird situation the last two days where my protein skimmer overflows with foam and then dump water into the collection cup. It is pure white foam and clean water but it fills the cup within 2 minutes that it is not usable. The unit is a trigger system bursa skimmer and I have never had...
I am actually doing a few things. Right now I grabbed a 30 gallon tank with a heater and filter to create a hospital tank. Going to fill it with water change tomorrow, then add copper based medicine and then the fish. Then I will most likely be buying the Coralife 18W UV for my DT. Run the...
QT vs UV I guess is a good question. I really don't want to do a UV as they are just so large physically and cost so much. I might just go to Petsmart and grab a 20gallon kit that includes the light and such and then make that the QT tank. POOPERS
I hear so many different takes on this and was just wondering what people's experiences were. Additionally from a sizing perspective how have people dealt with this piece of equipment? I read that some folks only run them for a few hours a week, so do you purchase a smaller unit that the...
I will be stopping in one day this week as well. I went when it was Reef 2 Reptiles but wasn't that impressed, but will have to stop by this week. Any idea on the hours Greg has at that store?
I have heard the mixed bag regarding the arrow crabs but my tank at 180 gallons seems to fit it nicely. I have a mix of small reef safe triggers, clowns, hermits, snails, and a few LPS style corals.
Thanks guys that is what I have been hearing. I will most likely add a banded coral schrimp as another possible scavenger of these guys in case they get out of hand.
What are peoples take on these critters? Are they bad or not? I read conflicting reports on line. I already have an arrow crab in my tank, and everyone says they will eat them. But I have only seen a single one so far and it hasn't moved.
Thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Cool article but its funny how dogs and cats breed all the time to create mutts but with Sharks they are calling them hybrid. I guess it would be more shocking if it really was a hybrid, like a Whale Shark and a Great white (scary).
