Long time Apex user and seriously thinking about switching to the ProFiLux. I haven't found 1 really bad review where there was a complete failure. I had one with my Apex early this week. Many small ones throughout the years. One thing thou is Apex customer service is really good. I have...
I completely agree, which is why prior to a whole house generator (Kohler) I bought a Honda EU for the clean power. I have a whole house surge protector installed and my PC all have UPS's (Tripp Lites). So lesson learned on the controller. I never recommend a contractor generator to anyone...
Yes, seems silly, but seems the loss of power to the brains of the Apex can cause the corruption. In 6/7 years and all the blackouts we've had this was the first time this has happened. But I guess redundancy is key.
Monday night I had a black out due to the storm for about 1 hour in the middle of the night. I heard the house generator kick in - No problem I thought and i went back to sleep....
Woke up 5 hours later, and realized my DT water level was low, went to the sump room and pumps were off, heaters...
If you're having issue with the common refactormeters get a digital one. Milwaukee makes them specofslly for saltwater. I use one and will never go back to the look thru the lens type. You just put water on the lens, push the button and you get a reading. Couldn't be easier... I went for...
Selling one of the Miami Hurricane Chalices I have. Had this for over 2 years. Snail shell on the left included!! :beguiled:
$125 for the Chalice
Please don't send PM saying "Will you take $75" I will not respond.
I will not hold it unless you PayPal in full
PM is key
Pick up is in...
Careful on the large water change as the parameters of the new salt water (NSW), may be very different then the old water. I my experience I've always had more troubles doing large water changes. I found that the alk in the NSW was a lot higher then my DT. I switch to a mix which is a lot...
I would guess it's Alk swing. I believe the recommendation is not to increase more then 1 dkh over a 24 hour period. I've done it before and seen frags RTN a few days later.
I don't do water changes much these days, but when I do I use a liter meter, and do about 2 gallons everyday. I agree it works well and prevents sudden spikes in water chemistry For those questions, Randy Holmes-Farley did the analysis to show that the loss of "new water" while doing...
Official: Masterflex Calcium Reactor Setup Thread - Reef Central Online Community
I cannot say enough good things about how well this set up works. You absolutely need a good solenoid like the aquirium plants. The majority of people run the reactor controlled by ph, turning it on and off...
I'm no expert, but my guess is your power supply is the issue. I'm guessing the original didn't have the power supply direct to the LED's. Is that what your doing?
If there was a circuit board in between, that board probably regulated the power to make it a constant supply. Many power...
Thanks, at least with this one I won't get a ding parked next to anyone. Since the tank is in between our kitchen and living room, the look had to be right. So while I'm sure I could have saved a bundle with other fixtures. I would not have gotten the design approval.
They are very...
Start by deciding the size tank you want. Long and short or wide and tall. This will limit you to the manufacturer. Rimless, braced or eurobrace. Stock ones are good but I haven't looked at them in a while. Sump can be a simple tank with baffles or a prefab one for a few hundred. Go as...
self plug (sry) I just updated my tank build - let me know if you have any questions....
Mike's Dream Build
it will give you some direction (not alway the right one) for a herbie / basement sump set up.
Wow. It's been over 1 year. So I guess a time for an update. It's been a long and very slow progress. I've been traveling almost weekly for the past year. While the tank has not suffered it hasn't been thriving like it should have. I've been focused on everything a bit more these past...
