I'm in the process of removing several fish from my tank as I'm going to migrate back to a reef tank. Anyway, here is my stocking plan in order that I'm thinking of adding. Tank is a 4'x2'x2' with a 40 gal sump that has been up since before Sandy (when I lost my coral and went into my fish...
Here's a few pics of my current tank. Does anyone know what's growing on the rocks? They're pretty see-through and are about 1/8-1/4" in diameter, stick out from the rock about a 1/4" and retract anytime the wrasse goes near them. You can see the xenia I just put in there is doing horrible...
Thanks everyone. I'll grab some pics hopefully tonight if the power stays on. Guess I was just at the point where I needed some encouragement :)
Getting some buckets for rock and water seems to make a lot of sense. Thank you.
Here's my story. Back before Sandy, I had just gotten my 120 up and running. Then all the coral died off, like what happened to most. Since then I have started and stopped as family health issues took priority.
I'm not sitting here with a 120g that has 1 true percula, 1 junior emporata, 1...
You sound like me. I lost everything in sandy too and just got back. I've simplified though and since I had a leak in my fuge I cut that out and am inserting a small flow area into my sump. It's nice being back :)
I'm in the same boat and have been getting by without a controller. The complications of a controller scare the heck out of me, but I guess I need to learn. I'm going to look for something relatively simple that only turns lights on/off, controls heaters and that's it.
After reading this entire thread more than once, I think the only part I understood was "removed to be inspected. more to come". No idea how you guys figure this stuff out.
Got it. Thanks for the feedback. Think I'll take the Jebao route because if they die quick, I can afford to replace several times and still be under the cost of a vortech.
Thanks all. To be candid, most of what I'd heard about Jebaos was negative that you had to unplug and replug every few days. I'll check them out. Thanks.
I still don't understand how folks could resent the Vietnam vets. Not like folks had much choice back then, but that was a bit before my time. Regardless, thanks for all your service and keeping us safe so I could raise a family safely and sleep at night.
I had some of the original vortech 40s when they came out. The noise drove me bonkers, but I had them turned up looking for max flow when I was going to go with sps. I took them out. Wetsides are shot and I'm thinking of tossing the controllers on the shelf.
Now that I'm going to focus on...
At 49, I think I have one year left before I'll concede to calling myself an old fart. I do concede to being old though.
The lack of respect thing drives be absolutely crazy. I don't think it's the kids though, it's their parents that drove it with their entitlement view of their world. I...
Ok so I went cheap and got 3 mars aqua 165 units for my 120. Now I already regret it just for the fact that I need to some type of controller timer setup. All I want to do is control when the fixtures go on since I don't think I can ramp them. Each light has a full color spectrum channel and...
Am pretty sure my new rbta is happy but how do I tell? Within an hour one of my clarkis took to it but I wan2to make sure he's ok. Lighting is a but yellow due to horrible phone cam. Feng's recommendation was not much flow but plenty of light. I have only an eheim 1262 for my 120. Took out...
