Nice, lol. I don't know why but it's something I enjoy, it's one thing I get to create myself. Actually got some of these spinning white disco ball things and pointed them up in the trees, makes a neat effect.
Just looking for different idea's, and if i should even worry about it. My sump water level is 9.5 inches, per the skimmer i have, classic 202-s, it recommends 7-9 inches. Should i be worried about that additional half inch? If so, just let me know your ideas.
Well, i was a bit off with the phosphate reading, looks like after the conversion, the higher measurement i took is roughly .018ppm phosphate. So there seems to be at least some there.
and just as i thought, nitrates are undetectable. I've apparently been running a ULNS tank without knowing it and my alk has been sitting at 10dkh. Time to feed more and let the alk lower, i'm thinking that should correct some issues i've been having.
apparently my red sea alk kit has been lying to me, my alk on the hanna is at about 10dkh, tested twice, red sea was showing about 8.4, so now to let it sit for a few days and let it come down. Also, just ran two phosphate tests with the ULR hanna, one showed 1ppb, the other 6ppm, Might as well...
yeah, ruby series, would have loved the emerald 39 but they were out of stock and i also saved about $200 going with this instead. Also, thats the 36 series to give you an idea on the size of that skimmer, the sump is 3 feet long and that thing makes it look tiny.
Well, i couldn't resist the black friday sale and between that and the credits i already had built up, i managed to get a few goodies for the tank. And jesus i really underestimated what i thought would be the size of the skimmer, it took some coaxing to fit into the chamber, but so far so good...
Well, here's the link to my newest tank build, DSA 135.... eventually | NJ Reef Club, I'll be updating it today with a few goodies coming by way of UPS, couldn't resist some black friday deals.
My next question, didn't think i'd have so many, lol. I've been carbon dosing with vodka in my current setup, should i just keep on going with that or should i try out a biopellet reactor instead?
Whats the normal height for running these? I'm thinking i can get it a decent height off the tank with the 8 bulb so that reaching into it i won't be banging the fixture every time. I wasn't planning on getting a dimmable one, i'm trying to keep things as simple as possible this time around, two...
One last question with T5's, would i have to worry at all about the heat in the tank? I don't currently own a chiller and have no real plans to get one.
Thanks for the offer there horseplay, i think i'm just going to go for it though and grab my own fixture, if i have to adjust the bulb combo i'll just do it as i go. I've always wanted to give T5 a try, this is just my excuse to do it, lol. On another note, why does everyone live so far away...
Thanks for the link, I might go with two coral plus and one aquablue special, or maybe just keep it the same, i think it will bring me to about 12k or so on the spectrum. any idea if two coral plus would be better for coral growth instead of two aquablue specials? Also, a few minor goodies came...
