Well, theres a catch build into the new baby. We have been trying for a few months now, so it was an inevitability. The catch is, we are out of bedrooms in this house, i need to open one up. My office is going to be a bedroom now, that leaves my tank with no place to go, accept in the wall...
135g DSA 4 foot tank
reef octo regal 200 sss skimmer
kessil A360WE's
apex VDM
Vectra M1
Tunze Osmolator
and lastly a nice little fuge, probably a crystal sump 36 from BRS or build my own out of a 40b.
Then i get the news that we will be adding a fourth child to our family, time to start up that...
I've had the bubble algae for a while, i had two emeralds that made short work of it, they for whatever reason both died on the same day, i have no idea why. I picked up another about a month ago who doesn't seem to care for it, he would rather play batman at night (He perches on my acro high up...
Crab lived, still no sign of any bugs, just have to let my tank balance out again and adjust my dosing in a few days. borealis it taking off, chopped up a couple corals and moved them. Also, so far its been about a week since i've ran a reactor besides the last 12 hours or so after the meds were...
Carbon is on the tank, will probably have to turn off my skimmer for a day or two, but no more bugs that i can see, and i've been checking for a while now. I'll keep checking through the days but i'm optimistic at this point.
Well, roughly 5 hours in and i can not locate a bug on any of my sps, i'll take that as a good sign. I have not looked for any of my hermits or crabs at this time, but everything else in the tank is just fine. I noticed some skin loss on a new red dragon due to something eating it, so if that...
Well, just a small update at this point. I've noticed as my friend pointed out to me, black bugs on my sps. I always thought something was slightly off with them. I just added Sentinel at this point, half a pill. I've already noticed some bugs gone that were there all morning. The other update...
Personally i would do a dip as i don't trust anything that could be a pest, but if it's not hurting anything, you might be ok. Check for bite marks on any sps corals you may have. If anything, i think a wrasse would have a field day with them.
I have a christmas favia approximately 5 inches in diameter, hoping to trade for certain kinds of acros, but will also accept cash. $80 or best offer. Below is the photo i have for now, i've stuck him in a back corner since then and he's darkened up nicely, no more bleached areas. Located in...
To add to that, i've been away from the house and set up an auto pellet feeder, was gone for roughly 5 days, i've never seen him eat a pellet but can't be sure, and he was still fat and happy when i came home.
Yup, i'm at the point now where i might turn the pumps off and feed twice a week to spray some food in front of him, the mandy is always fat and happy. You have it a bit easier as your fish will eat the food out of the water column, my mandy will only eat off the ground and rocks. My tank...
Well, i shouldn't say frozen thawed, but rather the diet you normally feed your tank. Whether thats frozen, live black worms, or whatever the case may be.
The trick for a fish that usually eats only pods is getting them to supplement their diet with frozen thawed food. My mandy still eats pods in my tank but will also take any frozen food i give him. As long as you have a population of pods in the tank to snack on and he eats frozen thawed as...
I think with vortec you would get a wider flow, i'm going by looks of the pump though and not actual experience with them. With that said, i'm getting a wider flow than i did with my RW series jebao's. It's a 90g tank. I have on on the top right in the back angled slightly down, on on the left...
