You mentioned your reactor being down. In my tank my sps are more sensitive to phosphate swings then anything else. Dosing is probably the root cause however the change in phosphates is not helping things.

Does less light for a longer period equal more light for a shorter period? For example is having leds at 30% for 12 hours roughly the same as having them at 60% for 6 hours? Would corals benefit from one approach over the other? Let me know what you guys think.
Thanks,
Joe
Hey Guys,
Has anyone seen Ms.wages or similar in stores local to Cherry Hill? Also, has anyone used landscaping lime as kalk for our tanks? I heard it can be done, but would like to know what you guys think.
Thanks,
Joe
I make up 5 gallons at a time, because that lasts me a week. I mix my kalk in the same container that I use to dose. I do not drain off the clear solution, I just make sure my pump does not pull from the bottom where the precip settles. I just wait to plug in my ato until the liquid is clear...
Rubbermaid container with a lid is fine, and it can be stored for as long as you want (or until it evaporates haha). Having pump in the solution is also fine, it will not damage the pump.

For prestone or baked baking soda I add it to a gallon container then top if off with water. The prestone dissolves easily, but to get the baking soda to fully dissolve you have to heat it up.
Thanks Paul. Jim I believe Prestone driveway heat is produced by the same company as peladow. Prestone driveway heat is however more concentrated which helps with our application.
I used Prestone drivesway heat years back for calcium supplementation. I read that formula has since changed, is it still safe? Anyone still using it without negative effects.
Thanks
The sand would be my only fear. Sand hides some nasty stuff that gets stirred up when moved. I would use new sand, then start with all fresh RODI salt water. Let the new water circulate for a few days then once the salinity matches I would then add the rock, filters, etc. over. I would also...
If it isn't leaking only the inner seal needs to be removed. If it is leaking you want to remove it all even between the panes. Silicone will not stick well at all the old silicone.
