chain of events: bought nano cube used, stand had minor damage ; nano cube leaked, got replacement from JBJ ; few months later nano cube leaks again , jbj sent me another replacement ; that replacement was cracked in the box , could not wait much longer so i purchased a deep blue rimless 30g...

yes nature will do it's thing however you might experience long term problems using tap water. +1 on the water changes. if you have nothing in there i would just do a 50%. what kind of salt are you using?

i would ditch all that live rock and plant a nice deep sand bed refugium. +1 on the chaeto. get a light on top of the fuge (homedepot $12) and call it a day. how old is your tank? you should do a water change if you believe you have some ammonia.
