I had a horrible outbreak in my 28g. I transferred most of that rock to my new 90g to help establish it (and because I didn't want to lose the corals on the rock) knowing that I was taking a chance of...
Thanks for getting things back up. I guess it will take a little longer to shake things out.
Is there a chance we will get more of the last year's data back? (My tale of the tank is gone also, only a few months old.)
Glad the site is back up.
So, now my hammer is throwing grenades >:( and at least one hit. I found the tip of a hammer attached to an acro on the other side of the tank (29 gallon). I also found a white spot on my larger maze coral that I assume came from a hammer tip.
So having only had my reef for a little over a year, I am still always seeing new things. One of my first corals was a nice size three head branching hammer. It survived as my tank matured for the 1st six months or so, but now has really thrived in the last three or four months. It has more than...
Thanks for the input. I guess the trick is finding it again. I have been looking each night with no luck.
It hasn't done any damage to anything that I can tell, so hopefully it will stay that way.
Thanks Again
A couple of weeks ago I was looking around my tank with a flashlight around 1 am and saw an unidentified hitchhiker. After more research, I think it is a a polyclad flatworm.
Here is a good video of one that a guy is releasing into his tank (the 2 minute mark looks exactly like what I saw in my...
Don't want to answer for him (I am sure he will be able to give better info), but I have read about some people doing these types of filters. I think the idea is that the water running faster, combined with the exposure to air is a better breading ground for micro algae. And if micro algae is...
Unfortunately not. My wife took the camera on a business trip to Florida this morning. I was running around the house looking for it before I remembered she took it. They stayed out in that position for about 5 minutes or so. Something in the water gave them all the same signal becuase they were...
I removed a carbon bag (chemipure elite) from the back of my tank to rinse (28 JBJ Nano). I had turned off the pumps to try not to stir anything up but I hadn't cleaned out the back chambers (or the small hang on back refuge) in a while so when the pumps came back on it clouded the tank.
I...
I think they are in the Paint section. I have 5 of them from there, and take 2 -3 at a time to refill with either RODI or Salt depending what I need.
Again, I get mine from Hanover Pets. I've read about people getting from Walmart or Grocery Stores or Culligan Water centers. Just don't know...
I've been buying from Aquatic Vision (Hanover Pets) in East Hanover on Rt 10. (I am close by). They charge $1 / gallon RODI and $1.50 for salt (spg always varies)
Funny but it is a Big Gulp type cup. I just lift the return pipe (from the chiller that goes into a small HOB refuge) and fill the cup. Then put the new water in the back. I don't know if it is the best way, but it is easy and has worked well for my tank (everything growing nicely).
Do we have a headquarters or some place where we could put this thing?
;D

Had the same thing happen 2 years ago on my little pond in the Morristown area. He got 4 of my 15 or so Since I have done as much a i can to make it more difficult. It is very frustrating when it happens.
Out of curiosity (along the same lines), I was told that when you change tanks you have to change sand. Is that true? The source said that when you move the sand it releases a lot of toxins that have been stored. I would love it if someone could shed some more light on this.
