+1 on slowly adding CUC after the tank is cycled and you start seeing some algae so you know they have something to eat. I waited at least 3-4 weeks between adding new fish and would add more CUC with the new fish.
Frustrating... when I look from the top down, it seems that my nitrates are 25 ppm. But when I look sideways, it not nearly dark enough to be 10 ppm (100 is the darkest and you divide by 10 if looking sideways).
What kits do you all use for nitrates?may end up getting a Hanna.
@amado is this the one you are referring to:

Also, I'm having a hell of a time tunning the Eheim. I get is tunned in where I have a steady temp and then a few days later it goes up a degree. Its a constant rinse and repeat. However, I do not have a controller. Maybe that's the answer to my problem.
My Eheim barley fits in my sump. They are so large. It seems there are many other brands that are shorter but I'm not 100% sure on their reliability. I've heard Finnex are pretty good.
Nice! Curious that the slainity is 1.024. A little lower than most of us shoot for. Although I guess that mumber can be different down towards the carribean where you would find coral.
@Nijessi Can you send your dad this way when he's finished there! Awesome job! Yes, you would still need an ATO to deal with the evaporation, but my dream right now is an auto water change. Lugging five gallon buckets of water all over the place is not fun lol
I echo what Sponge stated. I'm questioning some things I've done recently as well as things are not going perfectly in my tank either. Take it all in a learning experiences and try not to make the same mistakes twice. Even with all the precaution, you are likely to run into the same thing...
