The more I’m reading up on this, the more I think it was a mistake to purchase with such a new tank. I will buy some clams and keep it as healthy as I can. However, if anyone is interested in it, shoot me a note.
So the more research I am doing on these guys, the more I think it may have been a bad purchase. I love the idea of keeping the sand bed clean with the CUC. But my tank is only a couple months old and I’m guessing it’s going to starve. Wanted some second opinions before I decide what to do with him.
Actually did have a little water after 10+ hours. May try to loosen and retighten the bulkhead. Don’t think that will do anything but who knows... it also looks like there is just enough space between the coupler and the bulkhead for an o-ring. Might try that as well. Good news is that it isn’t...
It’s definitely from where the pipe goes into the bulkhead. That seal. There was just a little amount of water there this morning after about 9 hours. I also dialed back the return flow again to get rid of the spa like bubbling in the sump. With the lower flow rate, I haven’t seen any water...
On rt 46 in Pine Brook. Up in Northern NJ. I think they are the best around here. There is Absolutely Fish in Clifton, which is probably 15-20 minutes away from this store. I think those two are the top rated around here.
I’m very picky and over analyze everything. Basically gave them a budget...
Besides the huge snails, also picked up a few more hermit crabs and a sandsifting starfish. For fish, we got a small royal gramma and a small timor wrasse. Both are hiding in the rock work and I can actually only spot one of them. Once the are acclimated to the tank I’ll get some pictures.

So went to Home Depot again and redid the entire thing. At most, the pipe in the top of the bulkhead in the sump may have raised 1/8 of an inch when tightening the union. After two hours there was some water again. Not sure what to do at this point. Going to the LFS tomorrow and will see if they...
It’s not the bulkhead from the display. It’s the bulkhead in the sump. Thinking I may need to redo everything below the union (from the union to the sump). Might have access to a miter saw tomorrow to ensure a clean cut.
