    Micro Micro Micro Bubbles!

Hi Rob, First off, Welcome to NJRC! Can you give a few more details about your set-up? I'm curious about how many baffles you have. Also, does the water draining into the sump go over the first baffle and then under the second (assuming you have at least 2)? I know there are some things you...

    All in ones

I've had a 12g JBJ in my office for about a year now and really like it too. It's great for this environment because it's small and very self contained. I have 2 purple firefish, some easy shrooms and a frogspawn in it and apart from doing quarterly water changes don't anything else but watch it.

Welcome To NJRC! Take a minute to introduce yourself

Hey Donald, great post and great story! Good on you for taking in and adopting the foster kids. That's really cool and speaks volumes about your character. I love the "woke up to the sound of a hole saw" part. We were just the opposite. I have copies of emails between Phyl and I going on for...

    Opinions on overflow vs. RR

There is the usual hang on back type of overflow box that relies on a shipon to work, but there is also an external overflow that is a little different. It's sort of like the hang on type, except it's built onto the outside of the tank. Generally there is a slot cut just below the top line of...

Welcome To NJRC! Take a minute to introduce yourself

Hey Red, welcome to NJRC! I gotta say you were among the quickest to register with the forum and then join the club! The forums are a great resource for information and I think you'll find that there are a lot of benefits that come with memebership. It's too bad you work weekends, though. Our...

    GENESIS in concert

Sorry to jack the thread but I have a question about Sirius' Blues station. Do they play all current, rocking, Texas Blues? Or is it a mix of old old old school stuff too? The reason I ask is because the XM blues channel, IMO, is almost unlistenable. I don't mind a good Johnny Lee Hooker tune...

    GENESIS in concert

Oh let's see . . . . ANY blues artist - preferably Stevie Ray, but thanks to a crappy helicopter in August of 1990, that ain't gonna happen. So since he's out of the picture - Nuno Mendelis, Tab Benoit, Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, etc Almond Brothers Little Feat Chirs daughtry . . . . . Two cats...

    Daylight Savings Time

We change ours because we like having the lights come on just before we get home and go off just before we go to bed.

    Here's my Big Office System

Re: Here's my 120 Look's great, Bax. What kind of office do you work in that allows you to do this? I have a 12g nano in my office and feel like I'm pushing my luck! I'd love to be able to throw a 120 in there.

    Opinions on overflow vs. RR

I'll make it 3 for reef ready. I'm running both right now and prefer the RR. I've had my share of floods with the external overflow.

Our DIY sump and DIY stand

Very nice, Wendy. I really like the detail work on the trim. It came out great. I can't wait to see some life in it!

    Noisy Overflow Question

It's Poly Etheylene Tube. They sell it in HD and Lowes, usually right near the John Guest fittings.

    Typhoon Skimmer Issues

The deal there is that only Premium Members get search capability during peak hours. All others have to wait for off peak time (which I believe is between 3:00am and 3:02am!). Sorry, can't help you with that skimmer, though.

    How many pounds?

Wow Wendy, look what you started! Poor newcomer asks an innocent question and raises a sandstorm of controversy! For your 75 with sump and fuge, do what you think looks right. You're going to have plenty of other filtration processes taking place, so the amount of sand YOU choose shouldn't be...

Would this be a good system, or...

A good rule of thumb is 4 watts per gallon. There's a whole lot surrounding color temp and par value, but 4 watts per gallon is a good start.

    anyone tried culturing these?

We were going to try. We ordered the 100 pack and only about 5 were alive when they showed up. We gave up the culturing idea and just fed them to the tank.
