I can't say enough good things about MRC products. We have the MR-3R skimmer and CR-2 Ca reactor and are really happy with them both. Plus, they are a great company to deal with, with very good customer service.
Happy early B-Day Old Man (I can say that because you're 9 day's older than me!)
As Deb said, gifts around! Unlike Rich though, I don't want cash. Something small, say a Mystery Wrasse, would be fine!
Welcome to the forum! It's great that you found us here. It sounds like you're off to a good start. Post some pics when you get a chance. As always, feel free to ask any questions you may have. Someone here is bound to have the answer for you or at least point you in the right direction.
I've found that the closer I match the flow rate to the max of the drain, the quieter it gets. Also, are you using a flexible drain line? If so, and if possible, try putting a loop in it or making an "S" with it. If it's hard piped and running straight into the sump, you're more likely to get...
Yeah, Me! I'm sure I have a few of them laying around. I'm in VT right now, but I'll check when I get home on Saturday. If you need some before then, I think I saw some at Aquatic Obsession. You'd have to check to see if they have that size, though.
Yeah, good point. You don't want metal hose clamps in the water. They do sell some really nice and easy to use plastic hose clamps. They're good for under water too. I've had zip ties fail on me which is why I'm a little leary of them.
Here are the clamps I use
You can dip the end of the hose in hot water for a few seconds to soften it up. That'll help you get down a few more notch's on the barb. One is a little spooky! Also, zip ties don't really work that well as hose clamps. I'd get real ones, just for the peace of mind.
I agree, I think it looks fine.
I'm not sure I understand your question, though. Are you asking about the hoses going over the hose barbs? If so, use a couple of hose clamps to prevent them from possibly leaking (I doubt they'd blow off but they may leak).
I don't really know a whole lot about Durso's, so someone else will have to reply to that. As far as bulkheads, they are pretty much special order. I've never seen then at Depot or Lowes. Some LFS's carry them but they typically have a limited variety of sizes. I know Aquatic Obsessions in...
You may be able to use some of that black background mylar stuff they sell at LFS's. I'm not sure what you would use to attach it to the overflows, though. Maybe a couple of spots of crazy glue to hold it in place and the weight of the water to press it flat. I never tried it but it seems like...
It's a fantastic device that attaches to a mag float or similar magnetic tank cleaner. Here's a link to it. I have a few of them for each tank. I keep one with a plastic blade in the tank all the time for regular cleanings. One with a metal blade is used once a month to clean all of the hard to...
Those are great. Once again I have Big Tank Envy! Congrats and keep the photo's coming.
I don't know what your plan is, but the best way I found to clean tanks is to fill them with water and use one of RichtT's ReefGadgets. It makes clean up a breeze.
Wth the new "face" came with a new version of the gallery. The web master is working on importing the files from the previous gallery into the new one.
So having seen this set up in person, let me tell you, Greg has a LOT of rods! Including a cool little one for In Home Reef Fishing! As an aside, those rods are mounted to the ceiling. This pic was taken pointing the camera straight up. When I first saw the hats I thought either the pic was...
