Not sure about mp's, but from my experience, the gyre are very problematic when it's time to clean. Way too many little parts to deal with. On the plus side they do move a ton of water

The canakit pi3....I have the wife looking at the videos and tutorials for it....this way she can hook it up for me. I also already have the apex which us another reason for me not to make an Aquarium controller out of it
