The cost saving alternate parts thread

I always keep impellers when pumps break. I have managed to take some apart and build another to fit. Not as powerful as the original pump but in a pinch it works if I don't have a backup.

RED SEA s500 ELECTRONICS DRAWER / eBay

That sucks. I cannot believe he is so arrogant to blame USPS when he packaged it so horrible. My wife sends stuff and she has so much bubble wrap and foam she packs with. Hope you get your money back.

    InkBird Temp Controller

The Inkbird is holding steady at 76.8. Both heaters sump/DT are set for 76. @Goodair, that is a problem. I was using the inkbird, crappy digital and glass mercury thermometer and all had a different number.

    InkBird Temp Controller

Chris, I did watch the u-tube vid for the model I have. I am thinking the heaters are not compatible with the controllers. I sent the heater company an email asking if it was. I guess worse case is to use the glass Aqueon heater with the Inkbird.

    What could this be.

If it was FW I would say looks like a heater burn.

    InkBird Temp Controller

Is this the correct one? I set it up with the new heaters and the heater I plugged into it won't show the on/off indicator or display the temp. If I plug the heater directly to the outlet everything works fine. Did I setup the InkBird incorrectly? Inkbird ITC-308S Aquarium Heating and Cooling...

    Vermatids

Luckily that is a cabbage coral, soft tissue and I should be able to remove it easily.

    Diana’s build

Tough call. I am not a fan of the disk you stick in the tank. I use API but the colors make me scream sometimes. It looks like you are under 0.25 but I would wait if you have live stock in the DT.

    Vermatids

Think I will pull the rock; save the coral and toss the rock.

    Vermatids

Well it seems best is to remove the rock....ugh https://aquariumstoredepot.com/blogs/news/vermetid-snail-removal

    Vermatids

They slow coral growth and kill them. Not to mention the snotty string they shoot out looks terrible.

    Changing filter socks

I agree Rob. Never had mold issues in washer with bleach and air dry.

    Vermatids

Hiw can I get rid of these vermatid snails. Si far only on 1 rock. I have a puffer and wrasse si Bumble Bee snails may not be best. Should I pull the rock and frag the cabbage coral then put rock in vinegar, bleach or toss it?
