you can use a 90 inside the sump's bulkhead to bend it downward, to prevent less bubble and reduce the whirlpool effect.
suggest you use these UNION-BALL-VALVE (Lowes have it), not sure if you have space left to fit it in...
thinking should do it AFTER, as the rules of thumb that "nothing is easy"... you may encounter with few surprises and then lead to holding up the crews' chance to enjoy the good foods in the meeting...

??? my guess is that you are refering to glue the frag to the liverock inside your tank?
if YES, i normally do it this way, i glue the frag to either a plug or a small piece of rock (using the gel), then put it back in, wait 30 mins or so, then glue the plug/small-rock to the live...

IF YOU PREFER, you can do these:
wear letax glove
use pager tower to dry the base of the SPS and the plug
apply this glue gel
wait for 2 secs, insert the SPS, hold for 5 secs, make sure it is not loose, rinse it outside the tank with salt water, put them back in the tank
