The beach behind my house is all rocks like all Long Island Sound beaches. I would mush rather walk on a rocky beach than our south shore beaches which are just pure white sand which I find very boring. You never see anything interesting on a clean sandy beach although swimming is probably...
This morning before 6:00 was so beautiful that after my walk I took my Jeep on the beach and collected 50 gallons of NSW. It was so clear and calm that I don't have to strain out seaweed or do anything to it except heat it a little and added a little ASW as it is a little weak like 1.014...
Paintman. All those things used to be controlled by a simple vacuum hose. I once had to replace the heater core on a Cadillac. Probably in the 70s when they weighed as much as an M-60 tank. I had to take the front fender off along with half the front end. :confused2:
It's disgusting...
I feel a rant coming so don't read this. I just go nuts when I see bad engineering. I love when I see something designed correctly. That is beauty to me. I can sit for an hour and just stare at a set of rear differential gears in the rear axle of a car. That design has remained almost...
MadReefer, I was a mechanic in 1968 and 69 for oldsmobile and I know what you mean
(Thats the year Toronado came out and the Oldsmobile 442 was my favorite car)
Everything came out with a regular phillip screwdriver. I think with a screwdriver and pliers I could take the engine out without...
So the parking light burnt out on my Jeep Renegade. Not a big deal and when I used to be a mechanic for General Motors I could change this in 30 seconds. Of course I was in my 20s then and much more limber. Now to stick my head under the car is much more of a challenge.
To get to this...
I know that feeling well which is why I had 9 finger operations for it. But those surgeries don't last forever . Now I just take baths in Cortisone.
A couple of days ago I went to my pain manager Doctor. She is a very good Doctor and looks a Greek Goddess but of course that had nothing to do with me going to her. She is one of my wife's doctors and I just went to her through osmosis.
I am very prone to trigger finger and had 9 of my...
Good Morning. I walked the beach this morning and disturbed some amphipods. I didn't collect any as I didn't want to put them in my pocket as they tickle.
(I added a little blue to this because New York mornings near the sea are much more gray) :)
This mornings walk was slightly interesting, but not much.
It was a beautiful sunrise.
AS I walked I came across what looked like an ancient campsite.
I couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be and why it was so sloppy. Then I found out.
I don't know who built it or drank all that...
This morning I collected and changed 40 gallons of water. I had to filter it because it was choppy and it rained hard last night about 2" so it was full of chopped up seaweed, bikini tops, truck tires and sand.
I haven't changed any water since February and I am not a big water change guy but I want to try to collect 40 gallons and change it tomorrow. The last change I filled the tank 100% with ASW. I don't like that stuff and want to start putting back NSW. I used the ASW to try to eliminate the...
My Morning walk. I live near the sea so it is often foggy.
On my way there I spotted this big bull frog.
Golf course
.
Foggy beach
Then I noticed people living there.
Afraid of What? Amphipods don't bark, bite or jump on your leg. They are not protected or in danger of becoming extinct. They are easy to carry so no need for a hand truck. I have thousands in my tank for 50+ years so I know they don't eat fish.
