There is not sponge. Just a overflow box that attaches to it.

As far as my sump goes its water pours onto a sponge then into a tank with LR and then pumped back up. Heres a pic of the skimmer i have.

As far as RODI units go, is a 4 stage good enough or do I need a 5-6 stage one? As far as skimmers go I'd have to look for a stamp of the make but I know its a HOB skimmer only ment for upto 75 gal.

Did a water change and vacumed the sand and it only got worst. What can I do to get rid of it? Its the red slime and the brown algea on the sand. Josh

Did a little searching and it turns out that its a slipper snail. Its a harmless filterfeeder that just attaches to a hard surface(snail, rock, ect).

Most likely not going the way of the reef as it will take a lot of light due to how deep the tank is 32". Was thinking of making it a invert tank with maybe one fish.
