Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I only ran black box leds. You get what you pay for. Yes, they grow coral just fine.
Personally I don't see the need for expensive lights. That being said I believe there is a difference. I had zoas one time and traded a member. When I saw them under his lights totally different than under mine.
This was the UV I had in the 20g that died. Somehow water went into the unit. Not sure if I broke it the first moving around.
I did pick up a new bulb but that fried and not sure if I did not seal it properly or just no good from original damage.
Any thoughts as this for the seahorse tank...
It beats chemicals. My wife uses MG in the house plants and they look great and are huge. But if she doesn't continue with it they wither and die.
Why I have issues with adding that stuff to my tank, granted its small amounts. Maybe one day will try.
You need to kill the dinos first. I battled ten for a long time and eventually did a long blackout. Covered sides with black poster board and placed a sheet and blanket over the tank. I even taped that right to the tank.
So noticed a burning smell and wife said was the BBQ grill.
Later saw that the UV light was off. Took it apart and water by n the unit.
I dried it it but lift still out and pump works.
Going to toss it and start over with a new one.
You can also store it large container with water circulation cover it with a lid and keep in the dark. 99%the bad stuff will die and go to he bottom. You can then use that water just don't take it from the bottom obviously.
Found my in-tank UV and set it up for 'the SH tank. Noticed it wasn't working and took it a part. During storage broke the bulb and glass cover.
Both parts do here Mon.
