Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Looked into them a while back. Evaporation, cleaning (now you can have algae inside AND outside), and keeping level were all concerns. Apparently they look great but are a maintenance nightmare.
Im in trouble. Forgot we were supposed to meet folks for lunch. Ive pushed it back to 2. I can head over earlier to lend a hand if thats ok (as in, i can leave now)
I have a RO Buddy system.
In this small system (50gpd) I can easily monitor resin color (an determine time for change) and have the carbon tubes marked, by sharpie, with installation dates.
I change out resin as needed, the carbon and RO cartridge every 6 months (about $30), and the membrane...
Mark at Ultimate Corals in Jackson has a bogo sale on at the moment. Great guy to look to for advice and the sale is something i'd take advantage of if I didnt have 18,000 zoas in my tank atm.
Nice job. Think i'm going to be hitting Mark up next week for a few shrooms and palys myself.
Love the idea of an overflow for the top up, my son has a beta tank with same principle and works well. Alo like the duality as in emergency or for complete WC you have the low tap for a full empty...
Soz, haven't been around for the past 2 weeks. Unit has to be fully self contained.
No outside filtration or sump.
An easy way to think of it is that wires and tube can go into, but can't come out of.
CHALLENGE BEGINS TODAY!
Surprised to only see a handful of builds so far.
Going to get mine...
H2OPro are my go to now a days. Zoas are beauties and very reasonable.
I can't go to the site anymore as every time I drop an order.
I reviewed them here...

Current fav is Forgotten Boardwalk's Double IPA. Can find it in Wegmans near Tropic and ACC.
Started getting back ino Weiss near the end of the summer as well.
Was thinking of resurrecting the homebrewing equipment and doing a few grain batches, but don't have the time right now. May break it...
Mark,
Careful with the stainless steel. It will rust in salt water.
I ended up going with food grade plastic spigots due to that.
Brass was the other option as it wont rust, but it has copper as a component.
Have to remember as well that the 'bluer' you get, the farther away from the growth spectrum you are.
A mixed reef full spectrum light at 10000-14oook with white light induces photosynthesis, which is the basis for the symbiotic cells in zoas and palys to produce sugars which, in turn, allow...
I'm going to use a single line airpump in mine.
Though I have been debating on putting a micro powerhead in there to function as both circulation and heat provider.
Seems a lot of the builds that inspired these threads just have a basic air pump.
