Inspired by PaulB but failed. Need help with DYI LEDs

I was here a few months ago and a few decades ago. I just don't read every post on every forum so I missed it. You could have PMed me.

    Steam Punk Lamp

I am working on another Steam Punk Lamp. This one has fire in it (simulated but very cool) like a boiler. It will be painted like the others and I will add al sorts of "stuff" to it. I think this one will be the best out of the three.

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

We have this door in our bathroom that is for a closet/medicine cabinet/laundry shoot. The thing is 7' high and rounded. I designed this bathroom many years ago and I don't like straight walls, doors or women. So the door weighs about 150lbs, give or take 100lbs. The outside of it is white...

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

As I was doing this maintenance I noticed all the sponges I have. I love sponges. Each sponge filters 20,000 gallons (I made up that number because I forgot the actual number) of seawater a day and are great at removing car wash soap from your tank. I feed every day along with other things...

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

Busy morning like many people had. After we came back from breakfast I decided to do a little maintenance. For some reason I got ambitious. I had to put air in my car tires and add some oil and wiper washer fluid. Normal things that we don't want to do in the winter, but it is fairly warm...

IMO, How to run an Immune, Natural tank for over 40 years with few problems

I also do weekly water changes, but only every few months. Yes, leave your tank alone. Go out to dinner more. your fish will thank you.

IMO, How to run an Immune, Natural tank for over 40 years with few problems

I keep my water parameters in check by not checking them. If the corals are growing, the fish are spawning, I go out for dinner have a nice bottle of Pinot Noir and forget about it.

The long phone cord reaches all over my neighborhood because that was way before cell phones or cordless phones so I could go all over the place with it. It still works and has phone numbers on speed dial of people who died 25 years ago so I can call them long distance. Notice that SteamPunk...

MadReefer, I do not use a canister filter although I think I have 3 of them someplace. I use a diatom filter once a year for maintenance. It is basically a canister filter but contains diatom powder that you throw out after an hour or so when it gets clogged. Then you empty the thing out and...

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

For a couple of days I could only find two of my four porcelain crabs. Yesterday, right at the front of the tank, I see my big hermit crab munching on my smallest porcelain crab. He was pulling off the arms, sucking on the legs and cleaning his teeth with the antenna. I know what people will...

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

OMG I accidently came down and glanced at the tank. My garden eel came to the front of the tank and started to dig down into the gravel. He assumed the gravel was a foot deep but boy was he disappointed. He just discovered what an Under Gravel filter plate is and I don't think he is happy...

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

I doubt I will ever see that fish again. I had a cusk eel for 18 years and saw it maybe 5 times. This thing found a home where the UG filter tubes go under the gravel in back of the tank and I think he is happy there. I will shoot food there and hope he finds it because I don't think he will...

Dave, I took this off a remote Hawaiian Island. It is hair algae. I showed it to the Governor of Hawaii and he decided not to change the water in the Pacific or tweek it. This was on the same reef. The spotted moray in the center didn't seem to mind. And neither did this guy.

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

I just bought a garden eel because I don't remember ever having one. I vaguely remember having one many many years ago but It could have been a garter snake a piece of rope or a dream. The thing is about a foot long and a quarter inch wide. I am not sure if I should go by that 2" of fish for...

IMO, How to run an Immune, Natural tank for over 40 years with few problems

Dave, that discussion could take longer than I have left to live as I am getting old, but I never "Battle" anything. Everything that pops up in a tank is natural and there are natural ways to deal with them. My tank gets occasional algae and cyano too. The algae is only a little because I have...

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

Yesterday it snowed here in New York a little and I decided to buy a new pair of snow boots. I have my good snow boots that I used to work in but I just wanted to replace my pair that I wear to shovel snow or throw out the garbage. Something easy to slip on and off with no laces. My wife...

I also heard that about Supermodels and I have dove with a few Supermodels, chased those Godzilla Larval right away. I don't know what kind of silicone they used then but it probably gave you cancer if you lived in California. If you live in Arizona, New York or France, you will be fine.

I have never re sealed the tank, but it is only about 39 or 40 years old.

OK now we have the "hopefully" immune fish in there and we are feeding it the proper foods. Now we can buy another one and do the same thing. But we must "always" feed the correct foods with living bacteria. It is OK if we go on vacation for a week to have someone come over and feed them...
