I'm sorry to hear about your losses Paul.
Our SPS are just recovering from all of the issues we have had, but I am sure we can cut a few frags for you in the near future. Let us know when is a good time.
Jim, happy to have you joining in!
The finger was sore, but nothing a bottle of wine couldn't help cure. I have a new appreciation for the urchin's ability to protect itself.
I have not tried Chemiclean on the tank, we used it in the past with one of our other tanks.
We have been trying to...
We kept one for several months before ours fell into a chalice and got stung. It never recovered.
We had some success with feeding a processed artemia food with one in the 45 cube, but eventually lost it. I believe we had it for under 6 months.
Even if you get one that is in good shape, they...
Read THIS. Velvet is tough. Good luck. If you have success with the Cu, you might want to follow it with broad spectrum antibiotic to address any secondary infections.
I couldn't really curse at Mike, I was the one who picked the urchin. I have never had one before, and I've always wanted one. I all but begged.
To combat algae, we are doing a few things things. We are trying to reduce the nutrient levels in the tank with more frequent water changes (Mike's...
That is really interesting.
We have kept them under halides, T5s, and leds, in tanks from our 30 cube to our 205g and I've never seen that happen to any of mine. I'll have to see if I can get Mike to snap a photo.
LOL.
I initially handed him a needle and told him to dig it out of my finger, but he was not able to take my complaining/whining, hence the call to the sister in law.
He needed the wine almost as much as I did :)
Silly linear blenny eating SPS.
How is that basslet doing? Any change in color?
I took a good look at my guys, the new ones don't have perfect head shapes but all of them have yellow heads with orange on them.
I wonder if the coloration could be a stress response?
I'm fine, thanks for asking :)
It was several months ago.
I drank 1/2 of a bottle of nice wine, and cursed under my breath while my sister in law extracted the spine from my finger.
Mike drank the other half in an effort to console me.
Then we said thank you to nice sister in law for coming...
Welcome to the Nano Forum and to NJRC!
I love the 30g size, congrats on your new tank.
The clowns look very happy in there.
As mike said, we love yasha gobies. Another good (and less expensive choice) is the high fin.
I keep getting in trouble for bringing back the mermaid costume with saltwater on it. Don't the people at the costume store understand that mermaids belong in the sea???
Also Paul, while a burqa would help to shield me from prying eyes, just like a hijab would, it is impractical for...
Time for a small update.
So far the battle against the bubble algae is going well. The majority of the rocks I cleaned are remaining clean, with just a few small pockets of bubble algae remaining. My next step will be to re-aquascape the tank, which will happen in late february to early march...
Awesome!
I found that the sg was around the same area you are finding it to be, I assumed it had to do with the bay and the influx of fresh water from the mainland. Paul's answer is far more likely to be correct than my assumption was :)
The pump and tubing makes it much easier, but I do...
