Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
MatteZ, ICH is only visible in one of the stages in its life cycle, the cystic stage.
When did you have the ich in your tank last?
Edwin, can you pull the fish and QT them? If you can't pull the fish, can you pull the coral and then run hypo and UV?
One of the problems with reusing sand is that a sand bed, over time, traps phosphates. Over time, phosphate can precipitate out of the water and form deposits in rock and sand. When the sand and rock are exposed to cleaner water, the phosphates will begin to leach from the sand and rock into...
Sorry to hear about the skimmer, Jim.
I am also heading to MACNA, I have my conference ticket, and hotel, but not flight yet. Which airline did you go with?
Welcome to NJRC!
Is your Solana set up yet? Do you plan on running a sump, or are you looking to go inside the tank, or HOB? If you will be running a sump, what are the dimensions of the sump? Is there enough room in your stand for a Skimmer?
Right now, the tank looks unfinished. The rock work is functional, not pretty. the coral frags are mostly tiny. The Candy and Magnificent goby hide a lot, so at any given time you may not ssee any fish (this is exacerbated by the fact that all 3 cats are stalking the basslet).
We left the...
LOL, very funny.
Running him ragged with a trip to Trop, a walk with the cat in the snow (seriously, check out Mikes FB page), home cooked brownies from scratch with home made whipped cream last night, sleeping till 11 today, and veal rolitini and black rice for dinner. You are right, I am a...
LOL, been there, done that, have the beach chairs if you would like to borrow them.
Our living room still doesn't have a stick of furniture in it. . . but boy did the 45g cube make it feel like home when we moved in ;)
They show up on Divers Den pretty frequently.
Trop and AO also have them from time to time, if you call Will at AO, or Brent at Trop, they can probably give you a ballpark price and let you know if they are on their current lists of available fish from wholesalers.
Two other small wrasses...
Have you thought about anthias?
What about fire fish?
Assessor basslets?
Wrasses?
There are a lot of smaller fish options that would do very well in a 125 with the stock list you mentioned, and be reef safe.
We have a group of three helfrichi firefish, and they are gorgeous. We have a...
That is a tough decision.
On the one hand, moving a tank isn't that hard, especially a smaller one. Moves of several minutes of travel time or several hours can go equally well with proper planning. If you sell the tank, the difference that will make in funds is likely small.
On the other...
So, we made a few changes to this tank today.
1. We removed our massive pile of LR, and replaced the top piece with a large, flat shelf piece we have had in the sump of the big system for months now. It isn't terribly esthetically pleasing, but the goal is to make the Candy Basslet comfortable...
We are charging the battery for the DSLR as we speak.
We did a lot of work on the system this week.
Ethan came up on Tuesday (thanks Ethan!) and installed our 2d 65 make up tank; now we have one devoted to ro/di for top off, and another one hard plumed into the system for mixed saltwater...
Darren, I meet your challenge and raise you one bottle of Silver Oak, one batch of brownies from scratch, and home made whipped cream. You may not have snow, but all here isn't sucking either ;)
Those are very good points. If you want to do two angels, you probably don't want to put them in your DT right away. An angel war is a true war, and it will not be easy for you to remove them from your DT. If I were you, I would try them in a QT with dividers, allowing to see each other, but...
