While I do not have the book myself, I have been told this is a good book to get some of the basic requirements for the different corals.

You can then expand your knowledge on the ones you like, and meet your requirements.
FWIW-
I personally do not use a skimmer.
I use three passive media bags of GAC changing one bag weekly (FIFO).
I am successfully keeping all types of corals, and my nitrates usually hover at about 10.
I understand the cost difference to be the upfront cost vs the long term savings.
RO/DI cheaper to purchase. KATI/ANI cheaper in the long term.
I am actually surprised more are not using KATI/ANI, although I do understand the chemicals may make people nervous.
I guess I am looking for the pros and the cons of both.
Kati Ani sounds like in the long term it will save you money and eliminates water waste.
However, most people use RO/DI.
I have to believe there is a reason behind that.

Can someone help me better understand the differences between Kati Ani and RO/DI?
These are the ones I know of:
Kati Ani is more expensive on initial purchase.
Kati Ani produces no waste water.
Kati Ani has re-chargeable resins.
If it were me...I would do what I already did...in a very similar situation.
Buy Aiptasia X - Joe's Juice may be just as good but I heard it can impact parameters.
Kill as many as possible in one big go. (can probably get 80-90% of them)
Then expect to keep killing them here and there..it...
