Brandon, I know nothing about velvet, I am sorry. I was suggesting ICH treatment for Jonathan. Believe me, if I had advice for you and Anthony, I would have shared it :(
Sorry to hear this guys.
Jonathan, try freshwater dips if you can catch the fish, and get that temp nice and high (80-82 is where I have had the most success).
Large, frequent water changes.
Any chance of removing coral and going hypo?
If you can keep them eating, you have a shot- try...
I can relate. You know the syringes that come with test kits?
The kitten likes to eat the plastic plungers. Kind of difficult to draw solution out of a reagent bottle without a syringe. Me and the kitten might have gotten into a fight if mike hadn't saved the day by finding a spare for me!
I believe I said he was friendly and that he loves people (both of which are true). I made no comments about his destructiveness (as my mother always says, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all).
Thanks Brian, we appreciate the thought.
Xavier, wew may swing by one of those stores this evening, thank you for the suggestion.
I have to say it was pretty funny to watch the cat that chomped on the tubing get annoyed that he was being sprayed by water and that his paws were wet when he...
As an alternative to cycling sand, you can also buy live sand. A small bag should work fine for a shallow sand bed, a medium bag for a deeper sand bed, depending on the measurements of your tank. Buying live sand for a 20g high shouldn't be prohibitively expensive.
I like Fiji pink. It...
So for quite some time, the corals in this tank have looked pretty and been growing, the fish have been fat and healthy, and mike and me have done nothing but water changes and pretty minimal maintenance. If something was not doing well in the 12g or the 57g, we typically put it in this tank...
So . . . The last few months have been a bit rough on our tanks. The 57 was looking far from perfect, and as a result, many of our corals have been migrating to our 45g. Why am I telling you all this? Well, because I asked Ethan to come take a look at our tanks, to see if we were missing...
Hi Anthony,
When ICH is visible to the naked eye, it is because the parasite is present in our tanks, on our fish, in the cystic phase, in such a volume that we, for lack of a better term, "notice" it.
If you had velvet in your tank, in all likelihood your other fish would be sick as well...
We just started trying to go this, based on the article from last months' coral magazine.
We will let you know how it goes, I have 2 very simple cultures that have been up and running for a week and a half.
