Whitebird, I am curious, the article you linked is for zoa pox. Is that what you think they have? Is Furan 2 good for other ailments unrelated to zoa pox?
On a positive note, you could make it legendary..like lochness.."I swear...on a foggy day...under the light of the full moon...I saw my reef lobster" ;D
To your core question, I agree and have first hand experience of a new fish making other fish aggressive.
Regarding Mandarin. Did it eat food other then copepods? Were you supplementing copepods? I have heard 1 year in captivity for these fish before you can consider yourself successful.

This may be a case where a picture is worth a 1000....It sounds to me that everything is fine. You should not expect there to be flesh all the way down to the rock it's attached to.
I will try to post a picture of mine later today, but if you have a pic of yours, even better.
Thanks. Regarding the green algae. I may be terming it wrong. I am referring to the algae that is sort of like dust and easily comes off when you take any standard mag float to it.
Is keeping this type in check further helped with the reef gadget?
I am interested to know how frequently others have to clean the green film algae off their glass?
I typically have some on the glass every day (not overwhelming amounts).
Are there ways to reduce the frequency of formation? Should I want to, or should I consider this part of the overall food...
