Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I saw from your post that you are looking to go 90g +. i am far from an expert, but if that is the case, a 15g to 20g bow front as a sump might not be feasible (as you said, not ideal). You need to think about the water volume of the sump in relation to the overall tank size. A couple of other...
Welcome to njrc!
Feather dusters are filter feeders. In a new tank without much in the way of plankton, they might need to be fed. Keep a close eye on them. You might want to try phytofeast or oysterfeaat (both reef nutrition products). You can get both from Trop. I use a small amount every...
LOL. It is a little tough to keep updating it regularly, keeping track of corals is a serious project. I do find it helpfull to have records of what does and does not do well in our tanks.
A bit more info on the mobile tank inhabitants:
Fish: (None of these guys are over 2 inches)
Pair of spawning mandarins (trained onto frozen for 2 years plus)
Pair of picasso clowns (female came to live with us in late 2008, male in October 2009)
Four barnacle blennies (April 2011)
Pair of...
It is a ceramic shelf with interior and exterior magnets.
We got 2 of them at MACNA 2010. They are great they have pre-drilled holes for frag plugs.
Re: the snails, no, there were not 2, closer to 10 of that species that we 'caught in the act'. They got to spend the next day in a salt bucket...
Ok, so since this thread has also lost some info here is the cliff notes version of what has gone on in this tank in the last year.
The magnificent goby was missing for nearly a month after we moved last summer before miraculously reappearing. Don't ask us how, we were just thrilled that he was...
A verry abbreviated list of the Current livestock and approximate dates they came to live with us:
Mystery Wrasse (spring 2010)
False Shephardi angel (we think this guy is a flame/rusty hybrid) (February 2011)
Pair of black and white clowns & their RBTA (female clown:spring 2008; male clown...
The Angler is super cute Sandee, congrats on your new baby!
There was a really interesting article in CORAL magazine last month by a woman who is successfully keeping an Angler with another fish and with inverts- apparently the Angler's tank mates in the article are faster than the Angler is...
Well, our intercceptor treatment was completed on Sunday.
On Saturday, I did a big algae scrubb, and I did another one yesterday.
I also pulled out and looked at all of the acros closely last night, and did not see any signs of red bugs or eggs- fingers crossed!
I threw a few canaries in...
+1
This thread is also used to help find homes for animals (like JRWOHLER's RBTA, or my false percs) that need a new home for one reason or another, rather than taking them to a LFS and having them sold to someone who might not know how to properly care for them.
