So today was the nightmare sump pickup day. My son Zach and I drove to Delaware to pick up the sump I have been taking about. The 120g Acrylic tank. Had rope. blankets, everything we thought we needed. Arrived at the store...below:
After checking out the tank and loading it on the Jeep...
Sorry for your loss, may I suggest you take some key smaller components that are shippable for the memory aspect and donate the larger stuff to some one in need (like a child), in your fathers memory...
So what is different in these two skimmers besides price and over all shape? They both have same pump and ratings.

In my never ending search for aquarium stuff I found this gem. It's in North Jersey. If I had seen it before my 180 purchase, I would be temped to jump on it. With that said I thought I'd share it with the members. Who knows, it could even be a member. I have no affiliation to this seller and...
I figured I'd eventually get some type of controller, but wanted to wait till I was up and running and had a better idea what I really wanted. Do you subscribe to the two smaller heaters vs the larger? Any brands that are highly reliable? I have read about heater failures and can't believe...
I joined the BRS group buy that starts tomorrow and thought it might be a good idea to get some smaller items. I was thinking heaters.
So I understand two smaller heaters are better that one larger one in case one malfunctions. I remember they had bi-metal connections that can stick. So do...
Here is my home office. I just rearranged the layout to accommodate the tank. It's going to be tight but will work. Now if someone would only buy my piano, I can go into the living room with a bigger tank...still need to paint the wall and add a GFI receptacle.
More sump pictures: Going to try to pick it up tomorrow and tie it down to the top of my Jeep. Should be an interesting ride... :)
Scratches are bad, but no a biggy for being a sump.
The 180 is 72X24X24 I'm going to see if I can tie down that 120g to the top of my Jeep. And it will be a basement sump. I'll also have to put up some basement pictures.
I went through the first 10 pages. Some amazing stuff...Do to the size of the Brute, if I go in that direction. I will have it shipped. Still trying to decide.
I have tons of room. The tank has lots of nasty scratches and the back of it even has a built in wet/dry filter. (that I probably wouldn't use.) The scratches don't really matter. I was hoping I could make it a sump, refug and frag tank all in one, since its 6ft long. The visuals of the sump...
Ok...I see I can save a couple of hundred on the 100 gallon brute. Its not as sexy as a tank, but very cost effective. As always I have questions:
1, Are these food ie reef safe. I found food grade 32 gallon Brutes for my RO/DI, but didn't notice any reference to the 100 gallon Brutes.
2. Do...
