Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Sunlight supply is having a lot of deals on amazon liquidating their stock at the moment. Their hanging kits are ~$10. I got the tek legs that are normally $75 for $35 shipped. If I find the link to their store ill post it but I'm on my phone at the moment
Seems like a lot of people have switched over to LED's, and mostly with all positive experiences... Anyone with led's unhappy? or switched back to T5 or MH?
Like i said, im in between so for now im going to just make my own version of the ATI Powermodule and save myself about 1,200.00 lol...
AO has the best selection of unique or harder to find fish that I have seen in my experience. They also have the smaller and more name brand frags of zoas palys and sps, with prices on the hobbyist side of frags.
OGII has a very nice selection of sps and acan frags and great sales multiple...
I second this, they already have the best salt prices around which means I need to go there once a month anyway, and I've gotten most of my fresh and saltwater fish from them already, all we need now is a Good coral selection :)
Fact of the matter is that with dry goods, 97% of us would rather walk into a store, window shop, find what we want, then pull out our phones and order it online to save $5. Me included. And not just for fish stores that's for anything. So your dry goods have to be pretty low margin or your not...
As a retail store alone in south jersey your going to have to put a lot more effort into it than selling corals out of a store. To make it profitable enough to be worth it, you need to run a service business out of the store as well at the very least if not online sales as well. It can ve don't...
BillyR98 (my next door neighbor) And his 450gal display that I could see from my room. I mean, how can you not want a tank seeing that every day.
Been broke since lol.
Fact of the matter is that cycling with decaying material (a shrimp) is probably your best, and most surefire option to cycle a tank. Especially if there is no other ldead matter to cause ammonia. While these miracle in a bottle things work. They are not guaranteed or they would stand by their...
I've always done drain into skimmer/sock chamber furst, then fuge then return, with a bubble trap in between fuge and return. Makes sure no skimmer bubbles go back to the tank and my fuges have always done very well with the flow.
Ill be making a documented build thread for the light. Basically im going to run Aluminum U channel attached with C brackets where the endcaps would be located regularly. Just going to run a mixture of blues and whites probably on each, say 2 runs of 14 LEDS. Thinking 6 Royal Blue 4 Cool Blue...
Just trying to get a feel for the overall situation of the club and where everyone stands with their lighting. Personally I've had experience with halide, double and single ended, t5, and led both pre built and custom made.
For the newest tank, I'm looking at doing a t5/led hybrid fixture...
Tank is almost full, just got the tracking for the leds I ordered, should be here monday.
Going to modify the tek 6 bulb t5 into a 3x3 or 4x2 led/t5 hybrid. Not sure what ratio I want to go with, but I'm thinking 4 rows of leds to 2 t5 bulbs. Ill see what is what when the supplies get here...
