Yes one one inch drain and one one inch return, running a mag 9.5 wich will be teed off into the refugium to reduce pressure.
Ran the same size drains on my 75 when we drilled that, and two were more than capable of handling a mag 18, so 800gph roughly can go through this drain.
20x turnover...
How did that turn out jose? I have been reading up on a few methods of cleaning these rocks, but it is a fresh tank so I'm not overly concerned. I would like to avoid stinking up her room though haha
Jim has one of the nicest tanks I've seen around the area, some absolutely gorgeous corals. He will be the first person I contact when its time for corals haha
That is the reason we decided on the dry pukani over the reef saver rock, even though it is more expensive, it is many many times lighter than the reef saver. Same size rock will weigh 5x more with the extremely dense reef saver rock versus the pukani.
The per gallon rules are all pretty much...
Only going to use as much as needed to achieve the a aquascape she desires, if that's 30lbs that's what it is and I have a bunch of rock for the next tank haha
Could also mean that the previous owner might have upgraded the pump and not done any modifications to the overflow area. One thing we did with our bc29 was cut the tab dividing the first (far right) and second chamber so that it is opem all the way across. If you look at it stock, the opening...
Means that the intake into the first chamber, far rght when looking at the tank, is blocked partially. If there is sponge in there it needs to be cleaned, or something might have fallen to create the blockage. But its the same principle as a tank and sump, back chamber is the 'sump' and the...
Imgur.com is a good photo hosting site too, a lot less cluttered than photobucket and loads a hundred times faster. I'm with Kyle, ill be needing to speak with you regarding frags of everything you have hahaha
Few pics I snapped while we were working on everything.
Sump design is three sections, first for inlet with filter sock, and skimmer. 9" wide here. Second is refugium, or frag tank whatever it may be. This is 12" wide. Then a 3 baffle bubble trap, and a 6" return section that will house the...
Depending on skimmer I've found it works well to have the water enter the sump into the skimmer chamber, so I make a large first chamber and include my socks and skimmer there.
Just a way I've personally done with success.
I would still go with two 40's. I had a 10 on my 75gal and it would slide out of position because the magnet wasn't strong enough. I can't imagine on a 180. A light breeze would knock it off. It might "function" but not well.
Two mp40'a on a 180gal in addition to whatever return pump flow you...
