12 gallon JBJ

Gorgeous fish. They can be very cryptic so don't get overly concerned if you don't see him much. I had one for about a year and loved him. They do stay really small so feeding can be a challenge, mine got a mix of frozen cyclopeze and 2-3 day olde enriched brine shrimp.

The pistol shrimp in the tank has gone a very good job of creating a network of caves under the live rock so there are plenty of place to hide, so I am not that concerned if we see him every minute. Right now we feed all the tanks Rod's Reef which has a good amount of smaller particles for the small fish. I may be able to get a deal on another pair, decisions decisions.

Thanks for the advice, I'll start a brine shrimp culture up again tonight.

It was the fish in the bag at Rods house and the fish he went it with are also small and non-aggressive which is on purpose. If he went into any of our other tanks, then yes he would be a very expensive snack.

Just some updates...
Bad news: lost helfrichis to ich big time :-[
Good news we threw in our pistol shrimp and yasha from the 20g because we did not want to separate them during the interceptor treatment. It is now paired with my dracula goby.

You can see their pistol shrimp in this pic:

Ok, so since this thread has also lost some info here is the cliff notes version of what has gone on in this tank in the last year.
The magnificent goby was missing for nearly a month after we moved last summer before miraculously reappearing. Don't ask us how, we were just thrilled that he was still with us.
The magnificent goby and the yasha goby are still doing well. We lost the Dracula goby in the pics last fall, he had what we think were a series of strokes and gradually lost the ability to move his tail and his fins.
We thought the yasha was lonely after that, so we bought him a yellow watchman to keep him company. Then I realized hos fast that goby was growing, and started thinking about moving him to one of our larger tanks. The yellow watchman is now in the 30g. In february, we found another georgous Dracula goby at trop, and I couldn't resist. Our yasha now has a new Dracula friend, they share the same burrow and the same candy pistol shrimp. Our magnificent is paired with a second candy pistol shrimp. The other inhabitants include 2 bumblebee shrimp, 4 sext shrimp, and 2 petersens cleaner shrimp, and several super cute porcelain crabs, snails, and hermits. The shrimp and porcelain crabs are all newcomers in 2010-2011. The peppermint shrimp just got too big for the 12g, they live in the 45g now. I also used this tank as a nursery for the tank raised baby bengaii cardinals that I couldn't resist bringing home. Two are still in this tank, the other two graudated to the 45g and are doing great in their new home.
The favias, war coral, the candy cane, and the dendro are doing well and have grown significantly. We don't do well with zoas in this tank, there are no more left. We don't do wonderfully with mushrooms in this tank either, we have 2 Yuma in there currently.
Hopefully, we'll get some new pics up soon!

Almost forgot to mention, the cardinals had to be rehomed, they were getting too big. That left the tank with three gobies that hang out mostly in the rocks so if you caught the tank right, you would not see any fish at all. Nikki decided to rectify this situation with this guy:

The Tale of the 12g JBJ continues in a new local!
I moved this tank over to the new house on Saturday evening, and I am pleased to report that the transfer went well. The Helfrichi, Magnificent Goby, Candy Pistol and Dracula Goby have been out and about and are looking good. The Yasha Hasa is acting true to form, and the poor thing is doing the same thing he did when we moved him last year, he is hiding and won't come out of the rockwork. The corals made the transition well, and are looking great.
As seems to be standard, when I emptied this tank, I found an inhabitant I thought was long gone, the tiger pistol shrimp, who was living in the back chamber. He is huge now, almost 1.5", and larger than the gobies in the 12g, so putting him back into the 1`2g didn't seem like a good option. So he has been relocated into the 45g cube, which is housing a yellow watchman that is larger than he is, that I hope he will pair with.
Even if he does not, the 45g has the blue spot in it, so there is a nice deep 3" sand bed for him to dig in, and no tiny fish for him to try to eat.
Once we get internet up and running, we'll update with photos of the tank in its third (and I hope final) home.

Unfortunately, I think that the move was too much for the magnificent goby; we lost him last week.
The corals in this tank made the transition well, except for the gorgonian, which is not doing well, unfortunately.
The yasha goby, Dracula goby, and helfrichi fire fish are all doing well though, as are the dwarf shrimp and the porcelain crab.

It has been a very long time since we updated this thread. . .so here goes.

We added my bali wild caught clowns to this tank on Thursday. Moved the helfrichi down to the 45g about two weeks ago, and we moved the Dracula goby to the 45g about a month ago- he kept jumping into the back chambers of the 12g which made him hard to feed.

The yasha is still in the 12g. We added a flaming prawn goby before Christmas (don't expect any pictures of him- he is very reclusive) and a little red goby with a gold stripe AO got for us to the 12g as well.

We are battling bubble algae in this tank at the moment, but the fish are happy and healthy.
We will post new pictures soon.
