180g In-Wall Reef

well i have only seen the one, and he is no longer with us. i have an Ultralife X-Terminator Trap that I am going to set each night and see what happens.

Neogonodactylus Wennerae are the usual suspects but they are pretty small and I'd be shocked if it did any damage to the reef other than the occasional snail (though shrimp could be targets I guess).

Good luck. I never was able to trap mine...I had to grab the LR the guy lived in and blast the hole with some RO water. It's hair-raising how fast they are...(centipede like).

i seen one today, he was a little guy, but a pest none the less. if i cannot trap him, i know where his home is now. and although i dont want to, i will remove the piece of LR (very large piece of LR) and give a blast of RO. that is how i removed one the other day.

good luck! funny story- I had suggested someone to blast the LR with RO water a while back and the guy told me he did it - but it didn't work. I asked him how he did it and he said he loaded a turkey baster with RO water and put the baster into the tank and blasted it with RO water... ::) I forgot to tell him he had to take the LR out first... :D

Tank is still cycling, and I still have about 90lbs of LR to add, but here are the latest pics!

110lbs of Live Sand, some Caulerpa, and about 60lbs of LR (will be transferring about 30 more lbs from the display to the fuge when i get my final 90lbs of LR from TBS)

I agree with Phyl...Love all the "stuff"!

Tank is looking great, good luck with it!

Thanks Brian!

Just doing a ton of water changes right now trying to keep the amonia below 0.25 to avoid as much die off as possible on the LR.

I am doing about 45 gallons twice a day, which is not really a big deal except for the amount of salt I am going through.

is part 2 coming or did you only decide on procuring this LR? I recall my part 1 had a red serpent star hidden in a nook...

no i have to let richard know when to ship part 2, going to wait till the cycle is complete. and till i catch this mantis shrimp! i havent seen any red serp stars, but i have seen 2-3 small Fancy Tiger-striped stars.

nice - always nice to get freebie good hitchers.

oh and nice avatar - that other one you had was a little freaky...lol!

lol - totally off track then - what movie? I have so not gone to see any movies in a long long long time. I can tell you the nick jr. schedule and explain all the characters for most animated cartoons - but movies...what's that? ::)

Hahaha! yeah i just kind of realized that if someone has not seen 'A Clockwork Orange' that they may think the picture in the avatar was me. Nope, that picture was the character Alex from Stanley Kubrick's 1971 movie A Clockwork Orange. The new avatar is my boxer Lucky (taken seven years ago).

my tank was going pretty well- amonia & nitrate both reading 0 for a whiel now. but all of sudden a lot of the Mexican Calupera on the LR is dying and green hair algae is starting to grow! i dont have a Phosphate test kit, I guess I better get one. But I am only using RODI water and I am running Kent Phosphate Sponge in my canister filter. Also the bubble macro algae in my refugium is also turning white/clear now too. What should I do????

Is all your caulpera turning white or just the tips? If it's just the tips that's new growth. Is your fuge packed full? If so, then you might need to crop some of it. I've found that if there is no room for new growth that it starts to die off.
