4 X18 acrylic media reactor build for under $15

Parts

canister 1.50
screws and nuts 1.60
Connectors 5.90
Gasket 1.50
1/2 union .20

I bought acylic canisters at a discount store because I couldnt pass them up for 1.50 with the idea of making reactors with them
here is how it went

From a piece of acrylic I cut to circles to make the top The forms were shaped on a router using the lid of a chinese food container as a template

After that I glued the fittings for the top and the bottom

Glued the acrylic to the canister

then created the plumbing pieces using a piece of plastic that came with the canister as a strainer

I have now built 2 of these and by purchasing a magnetic stirrer with a bar on ebay for $25 I now have a kalk reactor for $40

Good job on the DIY. It looks fantastic!

As a side note, we made reactors out of the wrong kind (cheap) of acrylic tube. They can not be kept under pressure or they fissure like mad and spring a leak. What's the better kind of acrylic tube? Is it cast or extruded? Well we used the lower quality one and eventually it failed. Just FYI!
