The pump on my ASM skimmer started making a grinding noise this week. Today took it apart and the impeller is very rough. I tried cleaning it but nothing so soaking it vinegar and water and will see what happens. In the meantime broke out my Elos PS1000 skimmer never used. Had to raise it up about 3 inches to stop it from overflowing. Will monitor it and adjust accordingly as it breaks in.

the ELOS should serve you well, I would use citric acid over vinegar on magnetic parts since vinegar can make them swell up.

Nitrates are down to 40, getting there.
Alk is 8 or 9
Calcium is at 360.

Cannot get my cloves or palys to open.
Hammer frag fell behind rock but git it out and lost 2 of 3 heads. I saw one tip but retreated and have not seen it come back yet.

I love that puffer. Over heard they nip at corals though. Have you had any problems with it?
Touch and go and luck.
I had one and I loved it, until...
Sponge had stopped by and as we were looking at it.
As Matt asked me if it nipped at corals it must have heard him, as it took a chunk of my purple acro.
As I was asking Matt if he saw that, which he had, It casually swam over and took a bite out of my superman monti.
We beat the *&^* out of the tank trying to catch the damn thing.
Eventually, after 20 minutes of loud cursing and flailing arm movements (us, well mainly me, Sponge was too busy laughing), he puffed up and gave up from exhaustion.

I have not seen it bio at anything but who knows during the night.
He hangs up front next the feeding stations, 1 for flakes and 1 for frozen.
