I have a bunch of plastic knitting mesh and was wondering if I rough it up and place it in my sump if it will act like a scrubber and grow algae. Trying to pull some nutrients out.

Hit it with light, some should grow. It might catch detritus though, so you prob need to shake it off time to time.20210207_173117.jpg

Did that with a tank a few years back. Roughed it up with a fork, put it in sump, and directed a light on it. I was replacing them every 2 weeks or so. Worked well.
