Brandon's WTH was I thinking 125 gallon madness

If you have the space for it, I have a 15 gallon tank you can have that is drilled, but it's drilled on the bottom. Two holes, one on each side.

how would I run the fuge to the sump? With the 15? I was thinking of finding a used 20, but then i'd néed to find a place that would drill it.

If you have an idea to mak thE 15 work I'm all for it though. So today I framed the new wall and knocked down the old one. I need to get an electrician in to wire it up and then I can paint/carper then tank:)

So today I framed th

Well, if you are lifting the fuge up higher than the sump to gravity feed it to sump, you can just put a bulkhead in one of the holes and run a drain line down, and then cover or plug up the other hole. I have one of them that I am using as a small sump right now, and all I did was silicone the hell out of small squares of acrylic over the holes to cover them up. And it's water tight so far.

Yeah, lemme see if I can get a pick with my camera phone. When the psycho left, she took both digital cameras, so lemme see what I can do today before I head out.

I'm pretty sure I have bulkheads for both size holes too. You could just put stand pipes in them, and take the flow from higher up. That would keep any sand from going in. Could probably put together a couple pieces of acrylic too to kind of make a surface straining overflow around the stand pipes.

Lemme see if I can get some pics of the tank for you so you can get an idea of what I'm talking about.

so this is the fuge/sump idea with the suggestions of members:

I'm trying to figure out how I would keep the flow from the fuge in that 15 gallon matt from draining completely? Probably run PVC high up and then let it "overflow inside the tube" it would keep the sand out and export nutrients. So basically it'd overflow from the pipe coming from the tank overflow:) aka GHETTO overflow <not ghetto, but effective>

Construction of the wall and knocking down sheetrock from old wall is complete. Anyone an electrician here :) could use some help.

So updates, new wall is framed/insulated/wired

- ran 2 GFCI outlets on their own circuit near where the tank will ultimately go.
- wired the new wall/insulated it

tomorrow:
- sheetrock ceiling and walls

friday:
- hopefully paint

Also found out my brother's friend is a welder and is going to hopefully weld me a stand :)!!

OH and the total count of Mp40s is now 2 so I have 2 MP40Ws for powerheads one on each side of tank. Total cost under $600 for both!

Probably next week I will order my rodi maker and then the week after place the tank on its stand. Then the real fun can begin.

I may start a new thread specifically for the actual tank build since this has been mainly planning and learning.

Keep up the good work!! Don't start a new thread...I personally like when everything from the start of the initial project to the end result is all lined up!!

Where are you getting your MP40's for so cheap?? I want 2 more!!

The paint is on the walls and ceiling! Tomorrow I will do a second coat and hopefully floor will be done Monday. I cannot wait to move back in my room.

I pickedup my light from 9supra and ordered my stand from RE and will hopefully have that Wednesday. This tank will probably be up mid February/end of February since Wednesday I start my MBA program so hav to focus mainly on that.

I picked up my stand yesterday, but things will most likely take more time due to me starting my MBA program.

All I'm waiting on is to get the floor down and then it's basically done.

If anyone has a simple guide for building a durso or has 2 durso standpipes they do not need I could use them :).

So updates room is done except placing a few things in their proper place.

I will post a picture of the room complete tomorrow the difference is HUGE.

ATM the equipment I have is:

Tank: 135 gallon oceanic
Stand: Metal
Skimmer: ASM G2 (working on finding a gate valve to do the mod)
Light: Aqualight Pro HQI (3 x 150 MH and 4-96 watt)
Powerheads: 2 x Mp40w
Return Pump: Mag 18
Controller: Reefkeeper Lite w/ 2 x PC4 outlets

Lets see all that is left is:

- RO Maker
- Salt
- LR
- CYCLE

Am I missing anything?
