I had an issue with the stand bowing too much so I called reefencounter and they are replacing the stand at no charge! I pick it up Thursday so hopefully it will be better this time. If the stand is better than the current I will be happy and they will have a customer for life.
Basically I need to get my stand, clean the tank, buy a piece of ply for under the stand and then plumb and fill!
So I had a cracked bulkhead, after driving around to reefencounters I got the wrong size, went back got the right one and picked another at AF just to be safe.
Tank is replumbed and seems good to go, I'm going to do a quick leak test and then add my LR.
So plumbing is fixed 100%, there is a small leak from one of the return lines connected to a barb that comes off the pump, but it drips back into the sump so I am not too worried.
I think I goofed by cutting my standpipe about 1/2" so that the very top sits just inline with the rim of the aquarium so I can put my top on, but now there is a slight flushing sound. I may rextend it tomorrow, not sure.
On my skimmer it seems that the water flows out the side of the tube (ASM G2), I am thinking of adding a T then a ball valve then a 90 degree. The ball valve would regulate the height in the skimmer as opposed to having to adjust the actual pipe and this would also stop the water from flowing out of the top of the skimmer.
Need to add sand too!!!
Basically I just need to setup all the equipment such as lights, skimmer, controller (am i missing anything) and organize all the wires.
After that I'll setup my ATO, other MP40, and skin the stand.
Wheew alot more to do, but today is actually the first day I feel good about this tank. It seems like I've had to climb mountains to get to this point, after all this I'm not expecting it to be any easier, but think I'm prepared enough to handle the next challenges.
I want to thank everyone who has helped along the way such as: neighbor Karlo, RFD4, JWcury, 9supra, and all the other members who have lent a helping hand.
Oh and if anyone has any frags they need to clear out LMK! 135 gallon tank with only corals from a 14g will look very empty
Well it is 5 am and I've spent probably close to 24 hours over the past 3 days working on everything time for some much needed rest.
Hi Brandon, i just got done reading your build thread and want to say thanks for sharing. i enjoyed and learned alot. i wish i had found all of you when i did mine. it looks like you are off to a great start and i cant wait to see its progress. i may have overlooked it but have you tested the overflow to sump to make sure the water is balanced yet? floors get wet real quick ;D ;
