Dan's 150 Rebuild

By my eye, it looks like a 1500 gph Glass-Holes overflow. Give me a minute and if I can get to the back of my tank, I'll measure the ones I have....I have that same overflow.

That's exactly what it is! Awesome thank you! Oh and what kind of return pump r u using with this overflow?

I'm currently using a MAG 9.5 for a 90 DT, but you could go a bit larger having the 150 DT. I'm also now considering a DC return pump with manifold for the near future.

I'm also looking at those bulkheads....why do you want new ones. I'd figure out my plumbing plan and cut that existing pipe to put in unions....and go from there.

Bc I have no idea how old they really are and would rather just have brand new stuff to be on the safe side ya know? I did that with my 90. It had bulkheads already but after further inspection, a few had tiny hairline cracks in em so I just learned to not take chances Lol

As for a pump, I was thinking of going with a Mag 18. I like mags even tho theyre not energy efficient :/

EDIT TO ADD:

As I’m pulling out the tube to measure, I’m thinking, you have the black elbow with the hole in it……measure that hole to be sure.

The ones I have are 3/8” OD with ¼” ID.

So if you have the same, you need the 3/8” tubes.

SECOND EDIT:

I just went back to your pictures, and you have that tubing:

3/8" od and 1/4" id

Lol. I was pretty sure I saw it somewhere had to hunt for it

How much sand should I get for this tank? I know it depends on how deep I want the sandbed but just general rule of thumb? I had 200lbs for my 180g FW back in the day but I think it was too much lol

Like you said it depends on how deep you want to go. If the tank is a standard 150 (72"x18") I would say between 50-60lbs per inch of depth. It will also depend on the sand you get. The finer the sand the more you're going to need.

The oolite is going to be finer than the Fiji. I personally like the Fiji and have used it a number of times. In my new build 57 rimless (36x18) I used 40lbs and have about 1 3/4" sand bed.
