Dan's 150 Rebuild

If you want to give me your current Ca and alk #'s, along with your net water volume, I may have enough solution made up to give you when you come over for the frag. That way you can just add it to your system to get it up where it should be.

Okay back to my skimmer... I cannot figure this guy out. I get it to where I want it and it looks like its gonna start foaming up eventually but then I look at it a few hours later and the cup is overflowing with water. Its like there is no in between. Does anyone know how high the water INSIDE the skimmer should be? Its like this is just skimming wet skimming. Is it possible my tank is just too clean?

Yo
Turn of skimmer
Open all valves 100%
Close the air screw half way in.
Turn on skimmer and immediately close the water level control until the breaks of the little bubbles are at the bottom of the collar where the neck ends.. Meaning where the skimmer cup connects to the skimmer body is where the bubbles should be. Leave it there.

Fine tune the skimmer with the little air screw.

I did that, here's a pic. The water line is right where the top meets the neck.

Totally off topic but I'm such an idiot. When I calibrated my refractometer. It said adjust to 35ppt. I thought it meant 1.035!!! My frag tank is at 1.016 and my DT is at 1.017 lol

You'll need to get your SG to 1.026 before you determine whether you need to do any dosing or not. I have a gallon each of Calcium and Alk solutions made up for you. Once you have your SG adjusted, use this calculator, fill in the blanks and use Randy's recipe #1 in the drop down menu's to get your dosages(if needed).

How big of a water change should I do to raise this up each time? I figure its going to take probably 3 water changes

You could raise it nice and slowly by using saltwater for your ATO. Just monitor SG until you are where you want to be. Slow and steady wins the race.

Update: Skimmer is now foaming up nicely now. Had to empty it this morning. I added saltwater to my ATO to raise my salinity slowly.

Quick question: I have a JBJ ATO. Got it used from another member and it was working fine but most recently it'll kick on as if its going to pump water but then it doesn't pump until I physically hit the float sensor. And its also going extremely slow
