Dan's 150 Rebuild

If you use the ATO to dose kalk the pump and tube can get plugged up with residue. Even if you don't dose kalk I would give the float and the pump a good vinegar bath. I clean mine every 6 months or so.

Yeah I was thinking that actually. I didn't clean it well before putting it to use so that could help. I can't see the pump being dirty tho. I've only used it for 2 months and its only ever had rodi going thru it up until today

I had to recently replace the float on my jbj because the other one kept sticking, you might need to replace it.

I settled on a jebao DC12000 for return & still debating which skimmer :x

Woke up this morning, glass was pretty covered in dust algae. Cleaned it off, didn't think anything of it. Now 9hours later it was caked up again? What's going on? GFO is only a week old, not tumbling out of control. Skimmer is finally foaming, everything's normal. What gives?

It's a New tank man. Sucks but it's going to happen until things are stabilized. Also if your po4 is high gfo can become exhausted very quickly.

Lol. No worries man. Mine was driving me nuts for a while and I had to sit back and tell myself to be patient. Things will settle out. Not as fast as most of us would like but it will happen

Everything is looking good so far, its just the glass is bad Lol my Christmas wrasse won't leave my melanurus wrasse alone but won't pay any attention to my red coris wrasse loleveryone is looking really healthy tho

Not yet, I meant to do a water change the other day and I also added saltwater into my ATO but I've just been so busy and well, not in spirit to do work since my dog passed :/

I added higher saltwater into my ATO. Hopefully I can get around to doing a water change tomorrow or Thursday

Okay thanks Jim! I wanted to get this ordered last night but no one answered me lol do you have any ideas on how much I'll need to start off with?

The recommended amount is 1 cup(235 mL) for each 50 gal. of net system water. But, you don't want to start at that level. Figure your total amount needed, and start with about 1/4 to 1/3, and add another 1/4 to 1/3 after two weeks of running. Adjust the flow so the pellets are just fluidized, so they don't stick together, and keep them in a darkened area.

Same here....BRS pellets. I purchased the gallon size, which normally sells for 160, for 128 in a group buy.

You will want to start the reactor with 1/4 - 1/2 a cup and then increase to maybe somewhere in the area of 1 1/2 to 2 cups.

EDIT TO ADD: Jim and I were typing at the same time.....fairly close advice.....not bad!

So I've been doing 5 gal water changes everyday and I have my salinity at 1.020 from 1.017. Its getting there but its taking awhile lol by doing water changes though my corals look happier :)
