Dan's Nuvo 16g

For a cool invert, you could try a crinoid. They require excellent water quality though. So, only do one if you plan on keeping up with a tank to make sure it doesn't die. (They are very sensitive).

Well its been about a week and a half, still no ammo or nitrites, nitrates still at 5ppm. Did a 4g water change to try and bring the nitrates down, didn't seem to help Lol. Starting to see a lil algae bloom. Brown on glass and the rock so that's a good sign

Well it didn't take long before my gf kept pestering me saying the clowns didn't have enough room. So I scored a Innovative Marine Nuvo 16g tank. Same depth, just longer. Also has all the necessary spots for media/skimmer/heater etc. And the thing I like the most is it has a spot for the return pump in the back and has 2 output nozzles for directional flow :) cleaned it out yesterday really well. Plan to either put it up tonight or tomorrow.

Mods please change thread title to "Dan's Nuvo 16g"

Man that was quick LOL sounds like a nice setup good luck
Yeah I know! Lol my gf would look at the tank everyday and say "they don't have enough room. Its too small for them" so yeah I was kind of forced to find em a bigger home. But thanks man! Appreciate that

I'm tryna figure out if I wanna do sand in this tank. What does everyone recommend? Definitely not Fine sand, blows around too much

I did the 16 bare and the 8 with a slightly more coarse sand. I also highly recommend upgrading the return pump for the 16. The flow is slightly lacking. I'd also recommend different lights besides the stock Skyye LED lights. They are GREAT for softies. Lps and up tend to tank under them.

Well I plan on putting the MJ400 in place of the stock pump, I don't have lights at the moment. They didn't come with em so I'll be using the light from the 8g for now but I plan on buying a new light in a few weeks. I just don't know if I wanna do sand yet Lol my main concern is having it blow around. Do u think the mj400 will be enough power alone?

What's the flow rate for it? I'd shoot for 400-500 gph for the return. This will allow you to avoid having any powerheads in the tank itself and will provide ample circulation for everything (As long as we are talking about the 16g).
