Dip

Looking for experience with coral dips. I use lugols. But I know I need to use something else. Experience rather than what others have said/written

We dip everything in Revive. Gets the job done and isn't as harsh on the more sensitive corals as some of the other dips are.

Hydrocloric Acid. Guranteed to kill everything..... BUT. if you want stuff to LIVE.. then Coral RX and Revive (Both) should be a staple of your coral frag box. I use Revive to heal up fragged and hurting corals. I use CoralRX when I actually want to kill something. I always double dose and leave it in there a good 10 min longer than recommended.

I now use Bayer Advanced…..1 ml to every 100 mls of tank water….for about 15 minutes. Kills everything (maybe with the exception of eggs….don’t know about them.)

Coral Rx here. I did for the recommended time but usually use more then the recommended amount.

Most eggs serve not only as a means for incubation but also protection. Eggs in general are well protected by chemicals, sparing the embryo while in the egg. Best to retreat post incubation but not so long as to allow to newly hatched to reproduce.

Not to hijack but has the bayers ever led to any adverse effects? And.how long do you dip with it

15 min in dip then rinse in tank water before putting into tank. Atleast thats how I do it. Nothing has ever browned out because of it if thats what your asking.

This stuff is safe for corals….haven’t had any losses from dipping. HERE’s the original video that got me hooked.

The guy in the video diluted 8 mls per liter, and I simply rounded it to 1 ml per 100 mils.

This stuff is a nicotine based insecticide that works as a neurotoxin. It’s a very common insecticide sold under numerous brand names, and used for trees, shrubs and turf, as well as ticks and fleas on your little furry friends. The use of nicotine as an insecticide has been around for hundreds of years.

I let the frags sit in the wort for 15 – 20 minutes.

Do you need to have a dedicated tank or bucket for dipping with these chemicals? Or can you use the same tank for dipping and quarantine? I currently use by 2.5 gallon for everything.
