Don't feel like your tank is doing anything unusual. Just want to encourage you that all tanks go thru this stage. You will be just fine. keep up with the water changes, maybe supplement the crew that has died off.
If you want you can reduce the photoperiod. But I'd consider trying to up that Ph to over 8. It's odd to me that it is at 7.8 if your alk is good.
if you take a cup of water and vigorously aerate it - does the PH change?
Also is that daytime ph? or did you measure that at night?

how long did you cure the LR before adding to the display? Most of that algae looks like it's consuming something off the LR. The LR itself may be leeching CO2 due to curing/decomp. Otherwise i'm all out of ideas!
