Empire's 80

Hey, I'm upgrading my packed DB 30g rimless to a DB 80g, 48"x24"x16", with a custom 44"x16"x16" sump.

Equipment-
WB 2000 return
Reef Octo DCS 150 Skimmer
ATI Sun Power 8x54w
4 x MP10wES
2 x BRS Reactors

Still trying to find the right controller for me. I'll be using my RKL for now.

Platform to raise the tank--I had a problem with my 30 being so shallow. DB stands are not talk enough.

Breaking it down and selling it! 30g with custom 20"x20"x15" sump, g1 radion, eshopps s120 economy cone skimmer..it's a sweet setup but I would rather see it go to a good home than sit in storage.

Thanks! It's built by Custom King, I don't think he's on this forum. This is my 4-5th sump he built for me. The only thing I don't like about it is that horrible cheap white egg crate which has been replaced with black egg crate. No leeching in my tank!

halfway there with water. it's taking me about 2 hours to get 5 gallons of mixed saltwater in the tank. this sucks! lol

I was gonna have a sump made by him as well. Opted for a glass one made by another Manhattan reefs member. Great guy but the sump cracked in less then a month. No fault of his I'm sure. I think I'll get in touch with Jeff for my next one.

This is my third sump I got built from him. I always go with thicker acrylic. Anyways..

And then there was light.

This sucker is bright. I'm thinking I will hang it at least 12" off the water. I think I should have gotten the 6 bulb instead...

I realized that I cannot mount my light rail with my tank placed on the platform. I completely took over the living room.

Oh i misread this. My apologies. Def worth getting a custom job. This way you can have it anyway you please and get better dimensions. You should def go with thicker acrylic, and black baffles :)

Update:

1. sprayed the inside of the stand with rubber sealant.

2. added 2 fans inside the stand. 1 exhaust, 1 intake.

3. My light mount FINALLY came in.

Don’t know what that is…..could you provide details….brand, etc. I’m curious.

Counter productive. Make both fans blowing in or both blowing out and just provide a hole to relieve pressure.

thanks! no wife yet…..

Good move….keep it that way and tank changes go a lot smoother.
