Empire's 80

Don’t know what that is…..could you provide details….brand, etc. I’m curious.

Premium flexible sealer, stops water leaks. I sprayed it into all the cracks in my stand. It forms a rubber coating. Smells horrible, def spray outside or well ventilated area.

Counter productive. Make both fans blowing in or both blowing out and just provide a hole to relieve pressure.

I'd have to disagree. The fans aren't counterproductive as they are not doing the opposite of the desired effect. The fans are to remove any hot humid air from the inside of the tank. The fan that exhausts is on one side of the tank. It brings out any warm air. The fan that blows in, is on the back wall of the opposite side of the stand. For example- Wind blows over a body of water that is warmer than the air..what do we get? Evaporation cooling and evaporation of water..which creates? Humidity. The goal is to move air through the stand as opposed to into the stand. If you have fans into the stand you are going to create evap, and essentially cool your tank by evaporation. One fan in, and one out will create a balanced exchange that should not affect my evaporation rate. It will allow me to achieve the cooling effect and lower the humidity in my stand, keeping the dreaded deep blue stand dry and cool.

Good move….keep it that way and tank changes go a lot smoother.

the gf is starting to hate the time i spend on my tank vs on her. bringing her to the LFS with me usually helps, but she always wants the stuff i don't in my tank, like a panther grouper, dog face puffer, xenia, kenya tree, harlequin tusk, lion fish, yellow tail damsels, carpet anemone, etc. one day she will understand the beauty of SPS DOMINATION(Call of Duty voice)!!!!

Looks great! Where did you get the light rails?

thanks! eztube.com if you are seriously considering using this as a light mount, let me know. i'll walk you through what you'll need as the company does not specify in what we would use it for.

I'm definitely interested, let me know what I would need. that light rail looks good!

how fast do they usually process and ship out the orders?

I'd have to disagree. The fans................

I certainly don’t wish to belabor the point, especially if you’re happy with the fan design. However, here is a simplified overview of what you have:

One Fan “In” and One Fan “Out”

You have the effect of ONE fan. The one fan blows in air while the other sucks this same air out. You would get the same cooling effect if you had a single fan. Now if this “single” fan setup can handle the heat build up, all is fine.

Two Fans “In” or Two Fans “Out”

You have doubled your air flow through the stand/canopy. Obviously you need to have a “hole” somewhere for the air to go. This setup would be more efficient in cooling the tank.

Oh, and thanks for the info on the rubber sealant....I'm definitely going to check that out.

my main concern is humidity buildup in my stand. according to my research, it should work just fine. thank you for your input.

How many cans did it take you to coat the inside of your stand?

sadly, i am dealing with major phosphate issues. i vacuumed out over half of my sand bed, and remove all the rock that was from my previous setup. phosphate reading was around .25 after i changed out over 130 gallons in the course of 3 weeks. i just did another 20 gallons last night, changed my phosgaurd, and now i have a reading of .12 i can only imagine what my phosphates were before the 130 gallon change out :/

Thank you! I wish I had the talent lol. I found a custom stand builder in NY. Pm me if you're interested. It's 49x25x40 with 3 doors and baby crown molding. It's solid oak, and it's beautiful. I can't wait to get my tank on it.
