Glass Cages

i used them years ago for reptile tanks when i sold reptiles.for fish always heard good things.1 or 2 people said sloppy silicone

Theres a recent thread over on RC about 3 pages long, do a search. The just of it was.....their tanks are cheap in price, built strong, but the silicone work is very sloppy. They also talked about Miracles, Coast to Coast and Lemar. Miracle's tanks are very well built and clean, and better customer service. C/C and Lemar are way over priced kind of like Ferrari's, outstanding quality, but its only something to put water in and a mode of transportation.

yeah i saw that. i like hearing it directly from njreefers users experience though.

i'm iffy as of right now. hopefully custom king from manhattanreefs will come through with building my tank.

honestly i would use them they have been around a long time if they made crap they would be closed by now just my 2 cent ;D

complaining about silicone being sloppy and not being beveled properly is the main two concerns. other than that. I don't see any problems.

I've had a glasscages acrylic tank and I would agree that the workmanship is a bit sloppy, customer service could use a bit of help.....they built the tank wrong (frag tank). However for the price, you really can't complain too much especially since it only costs a fraction that other places charge. I have a miracles in glass tank now, the custom 5 footer and it is flat out awesome. Customer service is also topnotch but there is a price to pay! My tank alone cost about me about 50 frags 4 years ago, delivered.

you get what you pay for in this case. very sloppy workmanship from what I've seen.

I;ve had sumps from them,no problems at all.
Jim Roths tank is from them and it doesnt look sloppy to me,check out his thread on here.

Like ReefsNRotts said, I like my tank just fine. It's a big custom tank, and prices at the fancier places like Miracles were 3X Glasscages price. I couldnt have swung it. The Glasscages guy is kind of a crank though. He's like the Soup Nutsy on Seinfeld, doesn't put up with much waffling. You can see some pics of my tank in my Tale of the Tank thread. If you want to stop by some time and inspect my tank, you're welcome to.

yey for Custom KING! He finally came back to life and put out he was sick with the FLU. so no to glass cages, yes to CUSTOM KING!

info:

Tank from glass cages - 48 x 18 x 12 Starfire on front and sides center overflow with holes drilled 377 delivered to their white plains ny drop off

Tank from Custom King - requested 48 x 18 x 14 Acrylic with 2 overflow boxes back left and right Black background Euro Braced quoted 350 picked up at Custom Kings location

not sure if i'm allowed to inform numbers.  but i don't see why not?

so the difference in price is quite minimal but completely different type of tanks.  i like the dimensions and features on both.  Custom King is known for his awesome work.  Glass Cages has some issues but cheaper and built like a tank versus it's competitors.

no problem. i can't wait for my tank build thread. this tank will definitely be a last tank for awhile. that's why i'm making sure all my equipment is what i want.
