Anyone have any ideas why this happened?
Phosphate -0.25
Nitrate - 15 to 20ppm. Hard to tell color.
Calc - 500ppm
Alk - 7

I just adjusted skimmer to skin more wet.

Welcome to the club, except mines finally starting to go away after locking down my nutrient control . Only took me a year and a half to figure out how to manage my nutrients lol

Edit: I have similar phosphates but I locked down my nitrates to less than 2 ppm with my new fuge light so as soon as I did that my hair algae started going away slowly

Justin, I have feeling it is because I don't have a fuge. No room in sump or under cabinet. I am upgrading in a few months to a 5ft tank and plant to have a fug e or algae scrubber. Trying to control until the switch.

Not to beat a dead horse. But you can always increase water changes. And of course GFO will take care phos. Until your new setup is ready

Matt, I'm using phosphate right now. WC are a PITA during winter as I have to drive n but it. Normally make water outside but weather is not good to do that.

You could also buy or make an upflow algae scrubber , super easy to use and don't tank up a lot of space. I got one from a member on reef2reef and I'm not sure how well it's working because I've only had it for a few weeks so far but hair algae is starting to grow in it pretty quickly. It just took a while to get going

Finally received the NoPox.
I tested first:
Nitrate - 5ppm
know-how 0.25ppm
Really not high and yes I realize algae is consuming some.
I started dose of 2.5ml, going slow.
Not sure if this is the problem. Maybe it's the lights. I did increase a bit few months back.
Should I reside them higher and decrease them?

I think I would just run some gfo to handle phosphate and when you can do a water change. your nitrates are not to high and phosphate are manageable.
I would just take it really slow if you use the nopox.

Well reading on my tablet i realized something.
I had to move to the side cause of sun glare.
Realized Sun moved and is shining through in front of the tank, indirect not right on it.
I closed the blind and big difference. Algae is growing in front only not the back.
Wife made me open the blinds...lol
But she is going to visit her dad in FL tomorrow so.....

Already using phosguard not GFO.

Sometimes it’s the easiest thing. Glad you figured it out.
