Tell me about wifesaver rug. I planning on getting a tarp or something similar to fit around the 180 when I work on it. Carpet is coming Wednesday!

HomeDepot has em usually in the front with what ever discount items are there. The are CHEAP! like $3 for a 59" x 22" and they come in several lengths. They are just indoor/outdoor mats with a thin rubber backing. But they absorb drips just fine.

Thanks Pony! I really like them there are like cool little anemones!

so cool.

do you find that they become more aggressive when spawning?

Just pryor to laying the eggs they are very protective of their space. Once they spawn they seem to hunker down for a coupe of days. As the spawn matures, he stays close to home on the eggs while she clears the area and she is tough! My female clown is my oldest fish going back to my 26 g bow front with my CB only a month behind.

As soon as the eggs hatch the fry scatter and the pairs' job is done, they go on vacation for a day or two swimming the entire tank looking for food and challenging everyone for turf. Then they settle back the RBTA and live in relative harmony with all tankmates.

That cycle is pretty much clockwork and repeats about every 3-4 weeks if there are no stresses, such as massive fragging events ::) At peak they will spaw just over two weeks after a hatch.

Maybe one day I'll try rearing some clowns. My orchid dottybacks spawn every 3 weeks or so as well.

... And, I am toying with the idea of attempting the introduction of a small CB to see if I can pair them. I like watching fish in groups, I find their actions so much more natural.

Re: Here's my 120

Bax, it was just AWESOME meeting you. I can't begin to thank you enough for those GORGEOUS frags, and for hand-delivering them. ;D Thank you, thank you, thank you. I could have talked with you for hours on end. I certainly learned a lot. Thanks again.

Wendy

It was my pleasure, your tank is really sweet!

My only dissapointment was that Max did not seem willing to come home with me. He's a real handsom devil! :)

Re: Here's my 120

Hey, Bax, you have any frags ready yet for sale? I'm finally stocking SPS again in my tank after the crash and in a few weeks I might need to hit you up!

Just noticed how that might sound ::) Not that there's anything wrong with it ... but Max is Wendy's dog, he's a such a good puppy!

Re: Here's my 120

Not too much progress has been made on any of my many plans, but what else is new?

I've been slowly cleaning up the QT so I can move it out of the fish closet to rearrange in there. I have several much need changes to the original installation to be implemented before I can add the frag tank. Of course, now that Brandon is setting up my old 220, my landlord has come to his senses and pulled the plug on selling my building ... ugh!

So, it's full speed ahead on my frag tank and it'll be a while before I consider an upgrade to the display tank as all my extra equipment is going to the family room project at home. That's where I should be right now, completing the rewiring of the room so I can sheetrock over Thankgiving weekend.

A bit of sad news, one of my oldest reef inhabitants, a long spine urchin that was first spotted as a hitch hiker on my TBS rock over four years ago has turned up dead. My daughter, then 10, noticed him when he was smaller then a pencil eraser. I did notice some stress on the corals Friday and changed carbon, not seeing a reason. I am sure I just saw him cruising around earlier this week too. I am writing it off to old age?

Sorry to hear. I didn't realize you had TBS rock. I also didn't realize those little things could grow so big!

Only 30 pounds that went into my original 26 gal reef. I still see new stuff from that rock now and again. And, that urchin was big! Over 5" in diameter, that's why I think it may have just lived its life ... I think, it was a good one.

Re: Here's my 120

i'm sure it was bax.. Did you ever spot feed the Monti's? i read something about them that I should spot feed them with dt's oyster eggs and cyclopeeze sometimes ? i dunno much about them.. i do see super tiny polyps

Re: Here's my 120

I don't technically spot feed the SPS.

About once a week I add some cyclops to the frozen I am feeding the tank and do blast the water with fine particles all over the place so it's disributed in the water colum. But I try not to do that too often.

Re: Here's my 120

bax - i can't have your 120 thread as one of my inspirations if you're not updating it!!! ;D

Re: Here's my 120

I know, I know!

I really need to put together a good update. Work has just been really, really crazy!

I suppose I have to pay for reefing somehow, so I guess it's a good thing!

I've also been very busy at the house rewiring the family room. I am ready to start sheet rocking and soon, there will be some size tank going in. It was to a be a 200 g display, but with the troubled economy I am a bit nervous about shooting too high and my wife is really nervous. I have time to think about it. I may just set up my old 75 g for a while until things settle out a bit. I NEED a tank at home! ::)
