Here's my Big Office System

Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax

Here's one of two cracked cross braces I need to fix. They cracked after the PO laid the lit MHs on then. He fixed em then did it again, ... that's reefing I suppose? Then there's some sub bracing that needs to be replaced, so I 've got work to do. With the move comming ... and I just blew the intake manifold on my service truck :-\ I am blowing oil & coolant right out the exhuast  at only 47,000 miles!!! ... my time is very limited right now. I am hoping to start prepping the new place this week. Nothing will get done Memorial Day weekend ::) ... and moving will begin Tuesday, somewhere in there, I'll have to break down the 120 and move everything into some form of holding system ... SIMPLE! 8)

The craked end cross brace

This is one of the seems the PO re did, I think there was a miss measurment as there's a 1/2" gap filled with silicone, it will be replaced so all braces are butted together with sub bracing tieing them together at the face.

Here's the tank with the brace removed, not as hard as I thought it would be. One more to remove.

I'll have to get 1/2" glass cut for the braces, I have 3/8" glass for the sub braces. I'd like to get then set in place to cure before the move pretty unlikely at this point. :p

Well, within the next week I'll be pulling down the 120 :p

I'll try to catch a few pics a day bfore it comes done as, frankly, it's never looked so darn good!

My teal stag frags are just sick!

Bax,

your great pics make me "sick"... :p
i will bring over my camera one day, and let your try with your magic hand to give my new camera a blessing touch...
;D

Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax

David

You will be amazed at how I just dangle the camera in the water and take a bunch of pics then screen them for good ones. No big secrets!

You do have to get the hang of tilting the camera so the auto feature get the best adjustment for focus & ight, but that's just practice!

I must say, besides my youngest duaghter, born three days before my B-Day and due on my B-day, my 1030SW is the best gift my wife has ever given me ... except maybe for my first 26 bow fron SW tank!!!

... But, you are always welcome to come by! ;D

Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax

We started moving over all the shop stuff & equipment on Thursday, it's just about all moved over except for some of the big drill tools that we store outside. I am moving a little slow today as is the tank move, as I took a spill Friday night and cracked my ribs on one of the drill rigs. It hurts to breath much less lift things.

Last load yesterday, I took over the 100 frag tank, a 90 which will be the fuge and the 100 g sump. These will be set up to receive the livestock. I want to take the live rock bin over and tie it as well to seed the 600+ pounds of rock that's been curing for months now. It will become huge crytic fuge in the final plans. I'd hoped to get them started today, but after overdoing it yesterday, I don't have it in me. I'll probably just sort through equipment and pack up some pallets with all the reef gear. Man do I have ton of reef related stuff! ::)

Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax

Bummer about the ribs. The pics are great. I cannot imagine how much stuff you must have, remembering all the pics and comments about buying this and that I am surprised you have room for your office in your fish room.

Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax

Hehe! I need all this stuff!

The ribs are a little better today, still real soare though.

Things are coming together with the move of the company, you know that bearly relavant entity that pays for reefing? Soon, that will settle down and I can focus on moving the reef into the holding tanks.

... I hate moving!

Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax

Hang in there Bax and I hope you have a speedy recovery.

BTW, nice tank!

Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax

Thanks Bill!

I can't wait until the move is over, the economy is good again, and I can just lay back in my swivel chair focusing on being fat, drunk, and stupid and enjoying the beast of a 375 in my office!

Seriously, I have racked my back more then once doing what I do. And by all means, I empathise with any one in back pain. But a cracked rib, ..... SUCKS!

Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax

ouch...get a doc to prescribe some naproxin...(forget the spelling) - it's basically ibuprofin but at 5x the strength of anything over the counter... ;)

Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax

Thanks Phil & Cathy. I use 4 x Advil LiquiGels, seems to do the trick.

Oh and ice, as in ice pack and in the glass with scotch.

The floss was recommended by a serious DIY'er to help cut the silicone. Works pretty well. It a combination of working the seems with the razors and then separating with the floss. You want good floss though, I bought the cheap stuff and it breaks a lot, had to swipe the wife's good floss to make it work. ::)

Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax

Ouch Bax, +1 for the medicinal whisky! I have been known to squirrel away various medicines the dentist has given me for use in those circumstances, which in my case usually involves the lower back.

Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax

Hi Bax - Sorry to hear about the ribs. I fractured mine once playing football back in school and was wimpering for what seemed like months. I can't imagine moving stuff more then 30 or 40 lbs with that injury. None will question your toughness. (maybe your sanity with setting up a hot tub sized fish tank!) ;D

I just made it through about 2 months of 60+ hr work weeks and am a little more free. Let me know if you ever need a second pair of hands moving anything or etc.

Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax

Jim & Bob

Thanks!

Let just say, it really freak'n hurts to laugh!

I really over did it yesterday, I was crawling today (read ... more whiskey tonight!).

I did move some new SW over that is key, with any luck, I'll steal a few minutes to test the 100 g frag tomorrow. I just reopened the 1" drain that was sealed for God knows how long! It'll feed a sock before the skimmer. I've decided to pull the 90 out, place the 100 g frag there and use my existing 75 fuge. The 100 g frag will then be in the equipment room. If I get the beast in the office, another tank in there would be too much! Just a distraction from my intended goal of an "OMG!!!" reaction from the beast! So, more I ponder it, it's a better over all layout. And, with the 150 tub in the mix, volume is not an issue! Any luck, I'll make another 60 g of new SW today, & move the 75 fuge, rock, water and all over tomorrow and fire this holding thingy up! :D

Rock Tub, beast tank, and everything else moves by Friday come Hell or high water! ;D

Nothing will happen this weekend as it's Dance Recital weekend for both girls, and they are awesome! And, my youngest daughter's confirmation! They grow up too fast!

Glad to know that the medications work. Interesting bit of information on the floss. I never knew it can be used for other things other than taking out food particles between teeth :) LOL.

Bax - i hope that is 4x a day. If you are taking 4 of them at a time you run the risk of putting an ulcer in your stomach lining. Trust me - my college buddy did that and she was in a ton of pain after that. Just be cautious.

Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax

Phil

I usually only do that at the point of an injury when a Dr would dose you up on the same thing. I find it's not as effective long term as say ... wiskey! ;)

Well, I did not get the rock tub moved anywhere yet. Today I did do some set up on the filtration area. Still along ay to go, but I am no where near 100% and can only do so much before i need a break. I really hate being off my game at a time like this.

A fellow NJRC'r came over today to pick up the 400 watt ballast & pendnats I was selling and ... I cant find em! I fear they were tossed out in the move! ... I hate moving! :p

I'd hoped to be pretty much out Friday, then I said Monday ... now the buisnesss will be moved but my reef stuff! I may not be ready to hold critters here until Wed. or so the way I am going .... I hate moving! ::)

Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax

Thankfully, work, and unfortunately, this rib injury are slowing me down quite a bit. I just got to move the rock tub today. The Fuge is still back at the old office along with the beast. I am allowing another week for the move. Water is flowing in the 90, I could not get the 100 water tight as I was missing one fitting! Lost, somewhere in the move! Ugh! ... Of course! Fuge will move tomorrow.

I also have to get my RODI unit up and running, I've used all the water I had made. I have a brand new membrane to put in it, so with new filters, it should kick out some water.

Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax

How did I miss this? I'm so so sorry to hear about your ribs, Bax! OUCH!!!! Laughing hurts, breathing hard hurts, moving around too much and in funky ways is a killer, too. Are you wrapping them up in any way at all? (I hope that wasn't covered and I missed it somehow :-[) I know nowadays doctors don't believe in the "wrapping", but lemme tell ya, back in the day, when I cracked 7 ribs (in a horseback riding accident), the stretchable bandages saved me from overdosing on painkillers (and from missing too much school).

Sorry, I just had to modify, add something: Have you ever heard of Glucosamine/Chondroitin? You can get it at any pharmacy/WalMart/ShopRight, etc. It's GREAT stuff for mending/aiding broken bones. ;)
