I need help

Just an observation and something you will want to "fix" before you fill it back up with water or during your next water change.

It appears your returns are solid PVC that go down to where your water line is in the pic 1/2 down. You need a small hole in each one up at the top just under your normal water line. The little hole will allow air to enter the return if you loose power which will break the syphon and keep all the water from draining back down into the sump.

How about an update sinkingbeach?

Are you still in need of anything or is everything under control now? How is the tank doing?

Needed 1 O ring for MRC1 skimmer(little one for injector) it's currently missing. Equipment loss 1 Genx pump, 1 Ice Cap Ballast, 1 heater, 1 extension cord. The livestock losses are devastating :'( snowflake eel, ponape birdsnest, blue tip stag horn, orange cap half dead, bright pink pocillorpora, missing Oregon tort, Ora Bonsai half dead, PPE missing, Candy Apple reds haven't opened today. The entire tank needs to be reaquascaped, got the return up and running, skimmer is on but not doing well due to o ring.

Ouch. Those losses are staggering, Francis. Hopefully the "halfs" that you still have will recover and be better than before! Hang in there.

Hopefully someone knows where you can buy o-rings. All I can think of is a scuba store, but I'm sure there are plenty of places that sell them in a variety of sizes.

Thanks Phyl, the O ring has been found, wife put aside knowing I'd be looking for it and she just came back from Lowes, Bed Bath and Beyond, and liquor store. The Capt'n is calling...

Man that sucks. I've got a frag of ponape and blue tort when you're up and running again.

Thanks Greg, if your attending the frag swap please bring it ;D if not I'll be in touch in a few weeks.

I can help you out with the Ora Bonsai and orange cap, I also have spare pumps and heats if you need LMK.

Thank you, I don't intend to add anything for a few weeks, but if your attending the swap I'll take them there ;D if not give me a few weeks and I'll be in touch.

I'll see what I've got that you need when you're ready that I can give you also.

Hey, BTW, did you drill a small hole in each return to keep this from happening again?

I'd hate to see a sequel.

I'm in overall good shape and appreciate the pouring out of items, I'm just trying to aquascape now and figure out if the AC Jr. that I picked up yesterday is working correctly as my heat has been fluctuating up and down more so than usual. Once again the members of this club are incredible and I hope I have the opportunity to give back the encouragement and support that I received in the last 2 days.

Thank you,
Francis

I keep mine 1/2-1" ABOVE water line. That way I can see/monitor algae, calcium and gunk buildup on them that might not be visible if they were below the water level.

The holes are in place and tested ;) sump alarm in place, the rebuilding well it's only half of what it was :(

Cool.

mladencovic, I never really gave a thought to putting them above the water line. Had I thought of that I'd probably thought there would be additional noise or salt spray. Any issues with either? I'd assume it's better at not plugging up however. I stick mine with a toothpick every month or so when I'm drinking a martini looking at the tanks and have a pick in hand. :)
